Feels good to be validated

Thank you for not being judgmental and treating your patient as you would any other human! I seriously doubt the nurses I work with would do the same from the way they talk about the patients that do not fall into the stereotypical traditional family life-style.

Before anyone berates me for being a Student Nurse, keep in mind that this is my third career and not my first! I have had to provide care in my former life and I have also been a patient. I know first hand how a poor attitude toward those you help effects the care you provide or the care you are given.

I cared for a sixty eight year old transient male from Arizona for three days and after he was discharged, he sent me a bunch of the most beautiful flowers and a card saying that he had been admitted in different hospitals many times in his life, and that no nurse had ever treated him with such respect and dignity as I did. In addition, he sent a letter all the way from Arizona to NY to our VP of nurses of how excellent I treated him.
I surely felt good, wouldn't you?
