Famous Nurses from the Civil War

Nurses Dorothea Dix, Sally Louisa Tompkins, Mary Todd Lincoln, Mary Ann Ball Bickerdyke, Mary Jane Safford, and Clarissa Barton - angels on the Civil War battlefields and matriarchal leaders of the hospitals.

Dorothea Dix was sixty years old when the Civil War began, considered by some "too old" to "do any good" for the Northern cause...
