Re: Everyone has a story, and this one is mine
gbarrera2,
I hope you are still reading these boards. I want you to know that I am so proud of you and your awesome strength. When I was in undergrad, my parents died 11 mos apart. I didn't have the strength or support you have (no siblings or other family) and I dropped out a semester short of graduating. I spent a year in survival mode and worked in the medical field. A couple of years later met and married my husband, had children and now 17 years later, I'm am getting ready to graduate from nursing school. This journey has built my faith, and I encourage you to hold on to yours. Even through these difficult times, Jesus continues to carry you and is molding you to be the fabulous nurse that he has designed you to be. Your unique experiences with your parents and their caregivers will give you an edge in patient care and an empathy that many others cannot bring to the table because they do not/cannot have the same perception of the importance of great "holistic" care. May God bless you and your family in all of your endeavors!
Karen
