Now that's turning life's lemons into lemonade and lemon meringue pie! Congratulations! That helps me to answer one of my original questions of motivation. I grew up poor, my dad died when I was just a kid, and I saw how my mom struggled. I should always remember my past and use it as motivation to prevent it from happening again. Thanks for sharing your story.

You and people like you are examples of what you can do. Biology may not be destiny afterall. I am supposed to be in an institution after my traumatic brain injury and coma. Then I married a man who used to tell me I was damaged and no one would want me anyway. Threats daily about how if I did not "behave" and beating me did not work, maybe he would have to "visit" my grandma. Homeless, in Boston, and married to a violent addict, and here I am RN BSN MS. Thank you for opening your heart and sharing your story.

Very inspiring story!! It's a blessing that you stayed sane throughout all of these trials and tribulations. God puts us through things to groom us for what is to come. I'm glad that you stuck with it, that lets me know that what I'm doing is not in vain, and everything will pay off!!

I want to say from the bottom of my heart that you may have just encouraged me more to stick out the madness. I, too, have had an unimaginable past and I am presently challenged with a few other things, losses, and external factors, but I cannot give up. I am in my first semester and I have NEVER worked so hard in my life. I feel like my head is going to POP! You've given me motivation to stick in there one more day.... ONE day at a time.

WAW after I read this I felt so guilty for complaining about my situation when the fact of the matter is, I am so blessed...I'm 21, I don't have kids, I attend school at night and have a very decent day job working with the city (a job that is usually hard to get)...yet I complain about my teachers and how impossible they are, and how I feel like I don't have a life and God forgot me etc...but when I read your story and another person's post about how they lived in a shack...I just felt like breaking down because I've been so ungrateful...Thank you so much for sharing this. It was really and truly an eye-opener...strong women like you are alwys admired...
