Yay! The supervisor said he would write me a recommendtion! I am excited about this because the unit I work in has a rule where you have to be staff for 2 years! He is honoring the year I spent here as a traveler before I went staff!! I also have a recommendation from an anesthesia fellow who will be an attending by June and a critical care fellow also! Just gotta finish the RN to BSN and I will send everything in. I am so worried about even getting an interview!! It helps to read everyones experience with things so keep them coming!

I noticed today that the chemistry class I was planning on taking in the spring (general chemistry for health sciences) has a prereq of college algebra! The highest math I was required to take in my ADN program was intermediate algebra. I am good at algebra so I am not against taking the class but this will set me back a semester . So I will probably have to apply for October of 2014. So along with college algebra and general chemistry I have to take organic chem also. These classes will take me 3 more semesters and what sucks is college algebra is offered in the spring but is every day of the week! So for a full time nurse this doesn't work. My adviser is checking to see if they can waive the prereq so crossing my fingers!!

    Jilly,

Many community colleges offer the college algebra course during summer school and online; chemistry too! I would consider doing that, and that way focus on organic by itself in the fall...with that you could still make Feb 14. Organic is not required for Wolford and could be a pain in the butt to take. I would suggest biochemistry as class over organic because it's more relevant to medical science.

Jilly: Make sure that that chemistry class is indeed necessary. As far as I know, it can be any secondary chem. class. Look for one that does not require a prereq and then call Wolford to see if they accept it.

any of you guys know anyone in the program who is getting military financial assistance? If so, how does that work?

Hey Guys saw your post. I'm leaving Denver too after many years. Bittersweet definately but ready for new opportunities. Don't give up on Colorado when your done. St. Anthony's and DHMC both have active groups that are always hiring.

I'm not sure if you can take classes at another college while completing the RN to BSN. I will have to ask my advisor.

I wanted to take one that would help me understand the chemistry taught during the program. I have read many posts about taking chemistry classes that will help. What chemistry have you taken?

chem 1 & 2, o chem 1 & 2, and biochem. Most relevant to healthcare IMHO is biochem.

I am waiting patiently for my adviser to let me know if the professor will waive the prereq of college algebra as I am about to graduate and have such high GPA. I guess it sounds like I should plan on taking biochem instead of o chem. I just don't want to take a lab with it and am not sure if they will allow that. On another note my husband wants me to apply to schools in Michigan. I will have to wait til 2015 at the earliest to start due to MI school requirements. He will ultimately go but I would like him to want to go
