Hi there, just wondering if any of you peeps are going to Naples in Oct. of 2013? I am all signed up and wanted to see if anyone else has been excepted/going? I know all the negative reviews about the place so no worries... Read More

Ft. Myers is closest I believe. We stayed with friends, so I'm not too sure about the hotel situation (sorry). The campus isn't in a really prominent location, but if you have GPS on your phone or even just a good map of Naples, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Oscar: Guess i am trying to save money but hard to due with student loan payments. We are debating if my wife will work or not, she is a pediatric crit care nurse so should find work easy enough. Just not sure, our boy will be 8 months old so day care is an option but not sure about the expenses with that.

With the move, we are living in an apartment and think I could consolidate everything into a u-haul...gas will be spendy. I'll prob have to drive one of my cars out there first, fly back and tow our other car with the u-haul or get my brother to drive it out...i dunno yet on that one

I am just going to try and chill until school starts. have to do an online chem class this summer. probably look for another job cause i am pretty burnt out in my current icu...might even do some home health nursing or something real chill tell i start so i can study, focus on finances, and most importantly the family.

What are you doing to prepare? when you think you will drive out? how much stuff do you have? Will your wife stay at home with the kiddos and the new infant?

there is an airport 25 miles from naples i flew into, was not any cheaper to fly into fort meyers for me at the time. rented a care. got a hotel 4 miles from the school for 100 bucks. went to the beach with the wife and chilled out tell the interview. I heard the interview was super laxed and it totally was. 3 main questions. why do you want to be crna? what cases have you seen or type of patients do you take care of? how do you financially plan to pay for school? 6-10 minutes was average interview time.

I didn't really prepare for it at all. wear a suite or business clothes for sure! all about respect.

Dude, I'll be busy for the next 7 months before the big move. We own a home and are planning on renting it out, so we're working on getting all the odds & ends taken care of. We'll be heading out to Naples in early September. I think were going to rent a moving truck and get rid of a much stuff as possible. My in-laws are going to come with to help us, so my wife, the kids, and her mom will drive in one car, my father-in-law and i will take turns driving the moving truck and we'll haul our other car behind the moving truck. Hopefully we can get rid of enough stuff to only require a 16 foot truck...
My wife will be staying at home and we'll be living primarily of loans. With three kiddos, the cost of child care would trump what my wife could make.
That'd be cool to get a kick-back job, man. I have a friend who just got her year of ICU experience, got into school, and got out of the ICU. More she has a lot of tome with her family before school starts.

NurseJilly: You can hand in one thing at a time if you so desire. They will compile a file for you until you have completed all the requirements. Because there is no official application deadline (because it's an open year round), they will not process or send your information to committee until you've got all the requirements completed. Good luck! I hope that helped.
    Hi Oscar,

I emailed the contact person at Wolford and she stated it was possible to get accepted while taking the organic chemistry class (my second chemistry requirement). You said you are taking chemistry in the summer. So did they accept you without the second chemistry completed? I think i'm gonna move the GRE to the end of July. PALS is scheduled for Aug 6 so I should have everything complete except the last chemistry requirement. I feel like my GPA and my ICU experience should make me a good candidate: 3.88 and 8 years in multiple ICU settings (I was a travel nurse for 4 years so that should help also). Thanks for the info!

    Hi,

Did they accept you without all the chemistry requirements? When I apply in August, I will have one chemistry class outstanding which I will be taking in the Fall. Thanks!

I know this wasn't intended for me, but I have had friends that have received conditional acceptance with the condition that they finish the requirements before gaining full acceptance.

Thanks! That eases my mind a little! I am taking a chem class with lab in the Spring and then organic chem in the fall. I am taking PALS in August and have GRE scheduled for August 29th. Do you think I will still have time to apply for Spring semester taking the GRE on August 29th or should I reschedule for July 29th? I will have to pay a $50 reschedule fee but thats a small amount of money compared to what school will cost!! Thanks for all the tips!! As you can probably tell I am a nervous nellie!!
