Hello cli632, congratulations to you and all other students who were able to get into VCU 2013 CRNA program. I am also trying to get into the same program for next year. Can you all please provide little more information about how you all prepared for your GRE and also your interview experience? Did your boss create trouble giving recommendation letter? Did you have to do CCRN? Any information will be helpful to reach my goal. Thanks in advance.
    Hi!

I bought a gre review book and studied.

I had no issues in getting letters of recommendation.

    Yes I did ccrn.

Interview was great, 3 separate ones. No seriously awful grilling. They do have a test you take.

Good luck! I have a co-worker applying for next year as well

I bought the Princeton Review Book and literally went through the entire thing for about 3-4 weeks of total studying. I think I ended up buying some of the other subject specific GRE books as well just for practice questions. I focused zero time on the writing section and mostly the math.

I went into the interview cold, with no preparation other than writing down questions I wanted to ask.
It was VERY relaxed, i interviewed at 2 other schools (rush and oakland) and VCU was the best interview by far. you do take a written exam but if you pass CCRN it's a lot more basic.

I did CCRN, CMC, TNCC, NRP, ACLS, PALS.

My boss is awesome and she did not give me any trouble, i also got rec's from my CNO, a co worker, and an intensivist that i work with.

Feel free to PM if you have more questions or want more details.

those areas are fine just remember that they're a solid 25 minutes from VCU plus tolls.

I drive twice that to get to work so I thought it was decent!

How are the tolls anyway? They are bad here, 3-7 bucks each way over the lake...

hi kelstep! I was the last to arrive in my group and they were all staring at me, but I was still 5 minutes early. I had a current student pick me up and drop me at the door so it was nice.

Yes it's an awkward feeling to have everyone sitting there watching you walk in! I was so excited about the interview and my mind was absorbed in thinking about preparing for interview questions, etc.... that I completely didn't realize that I had never gotten my info packet and at like 6am realized I was all ready but had no idea where to go! And ----- wasn't answering her phone. Thank God I figured it out....ended up arriving about 5 minutes late. Super embarrassing. Thankfully it didn't keep me from being accepted in the end! What a relief!

From there they are probably like $3 a day total. They vary from 25 cents to 70 cents but there are three from that part of town to VCU each way. 6 Total.

It looks like, in playing with google maps and traffic times, that the commute via surface streets would about 40 minutes. does that sound right?

still looking at the bus schedule...it might be easier to bus in, and we get free passes, and it's about an hour. not too bad.

are you going to drive in and pay parking fees?

guys can we continue all this on our other private forum? i would like info we talk about to be there for posterity, it might help others in the future? whatcha think?

you can answer my questions above there!

and kelstep, it was awesome you made it only 5 minutes late! nice work! I was lucky as i had a current student drop me at the front of the building and tell me exactly where to go, lol!!!

I am hurrying to get everything medical/dental/vision done for my family before we move in april as we basically won't have insurance. all check ups, new glasses, anything that is hurting anyone is being looked at now! I feel like we have an appointment somewhere everyday! Just found out my insurance gives us 17 free massages a year so the whole family is getting one every week until we leave! lol
