Starting TWU Fall 2006?

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Just wondering if there are any other nurses out there starting at Texas Wesleyan in Aug '06? I am both excited and scared from what I know will be a tough program! Just knowing somebody before we start classes might help!

From all that I have heard, you will do great in Colton, California. I have read on this site and heard from others that the RRNAs out there have great experiences.

Currently, I live about 1/2 an hour from Ft. Worth, so I am a commuter the first year.

You will like Arrowhead. Their call schedule is better than Lubbock. Oppss.... hey thats just my opinion. They have lots of regional ( both OB and non- OB ) and trauma cases but less on cardiac cases ( less central lines and swan placement ) but other than that it is an excellent site.

Hello all, I will be starting at TWU in the Fall/06 as well. Yes, I am very anxious and excited not knowing what all to expect. I got Lubbock as my clinical site--which is where I wanted. I also have issues with leaving my family. I am thinking that once I start and get an idea of time/study etc., I can better judge if I can handle having family there. It will be difficult with or without them:o but I know we can make anything work! Would love to meet other classmates! See ya'll soon.

Are you at Arrowhead now Xigris? I'm going there in august

Congrats to all very soon to be fellow TWU students! :balloons: I will graduate from TWU this December (thank heaven) :) Like many have mentioned Reinke is the hurdle you will jump through for the next year... and he will make your brain physically hurt at times... but you will be extremely glad to have the knowledge that you gained from him when you enter clinicals (at least after a few weeks when the nerves subside a bit and you are able to remember it all again!) My experience has been very exhausting mentally and physically but now that I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel I can say it was all worth it and even fun at times! The best advice I think I could give you is to rest up as much as you can before August, remember what is important in the grand scheme of things and plan time off with your family every week (if you can), and help each other. Do not make it a competition... talk TRUTHFULLY with your classmates about the stresses (several of us made frequent lunch dates). You will become best friends with some of the people you will be with for the next 2 1/2 years and they will be the only ones who truly know what you're going through. Good luck!

Nope. However, I have so many friends there. They all like the place. Im in Plaza Medical Center.

How do you like it at Plaza Xigris? The clinical portion of our program is the one I'm worried about.

bump.......where r u guys? :welcome:

TWU acceptees...

TWU is one of the school's I'm very interested in applying to and you all sound super excited to be going there, which is a good sign :)

Please, do tell those of us who don't now more about this famous Professor (Dr?) Reinke??

Also...How DOES this whole thing with having a clinical site far from campus or even in another state work? Do you live on campus and commute to clinical (seems impossible if it's in another state?), or live near clinical and commute to campus..I'm completely confused about how all this works and any help/advice you could all give would be great!

Lonestar: doesn't seem like there are very many of us represented here!

Roosevelt: TWU is a didactic program; the first year is all classes on campus, the second year and a half is all clinical at the clinical site.

It's almost time to end the wait....
