Scranton / Wyoming Valley CRNA program

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hello all I have been searching for any information on the University of Scranton/ Wyoming Valley's Nurse Anesthesia program and cannot find any recent posts. Does anyone know anything about this program or interview process?

Also, I noticed that this school is not ranked very high on the US News' ranking of Nurse Anesthesia schools. Does anyone know why some schools are ranked higher than others and do these rankings accurately reflect the quality of the school's education and the school's ability to prepare me to become a great anesthesia provider? I read the rankings with a grain of salt as I believe that with anything in life it is our own responsibility to make the best of any opportunity that we are given - whether it is at the number one school of the last ranked school. Thanks in advance for your help!

Yup, I totally hear you Rhino.

I just received the phone call today of official acceptance. The negotiations are over and The University of Scranton will be the sole provider of the program.

Got my call yesterday and letters were mailed yesterday too... now deciding which school to attend

Got my letter today to confirm acceptance into the program. Unfortunately there isn't 100% guarantee that the program will start this fall, "Acceptance is now contingent upon the final approval of the new program structure by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs." We shall see.......

One thing that is reassuring is that the Council on Accreditation gave Scranton the full 10 years of accreditation in Oct 2012.

I'll have to call Monday to question the accreditation bc I'll be canceling my fall enrollment elsewhere... Don't wanna screw myself

Congrats to you also Rhino, I am feeling left out  bc I haven't gotten my phone call yet....but I received my letter of acceptance yesterday  also and it says the same contingency thing. But I looked through that link posted and they have their 10 yr accreditation already. My guess is that since they are the sole provider of anesthesia now, they are modifying clinical structure maybe. If you call on Monday Rhino, can you update us? Thanks guys and congrats to you all.

Absolutely will

I was thinking of taking a couple of non anesthesia nursing classes over the summer through university of pheonix to lighten the course load. I hear that those extra courses are a pain during school.

I took one course at scranton and one course at another school where I had been accepted already (dont think it will transfer), just make sure they will transfer. It is a good idea. I would like to take a research course but idk where one is being offered that will transfer.

After this quarter, I am actually one quarter away from being done with my Masters of Nursing from the University of Washington. I should be able to transfer my Research I and II for the second year in anesthesia school. So Yea, dwgg, it would help a lot if you get some of those classes out of the way.
