Must a BSN be completed before an application is sent?

Hi, I was wondering if most CRNA schools require the applicant to already have a BSN degree before actually sending in their application. I was hoping to obtain my RN to BSN degree within a year and a half while working, but due to most CRNA programs being so competitive applications are due almost a year before the actual start of the nurse anesthesia program.

I would be currently enrolled in a RN to BSN program while attempting to send an application in asap, expecting to graduate a month or two before the start of the CRNA program.

Can a BSN in progress be acceptable in an application?

1. I am an experienced ICU RN with an associate's degree and will complete my BSN in December. Can I be considered for January admission?
   It is unlikely that you can be accepted as other applicants would have completed all requirements and met admission criteria ahead of you.

Some schools put that on as a generic disclaimer and an easy way to tell people no. It really depends on the numbers posted by your competitors which can vary widely from year to year. If you can lose the application fees without putting yourself in financial hardship then go for it. If you can't, you probably aren't financially positioned for CRNA school anyways. All you have to lose is money and the potential to gain another year as a CRNA. Good luck!

Last Year I applied to a school while I was still in the BSN program. I interviewed in August 07 and got in. My BSN degree was still pending. I completed my BSN a week after the interview. I applied to numerous schools with my degree still pending. Some welcome the application. Some don't like it. Contact the school and ask them.

You can be accepted if you will complete your BSN prior to the start of the anesthesia program. The problem, as stated in the FAQ on the BU website, is that an applicant who has already completed their BSN may be considered more competitive. Contact the schools you are considering applying to. Most people apply more than once before getting in. Make yourself the most competitive applicant you can, and if you don't get in, get advice FROM THE SCHOOL about what would make you more competitive, and do it.

Before you spend time applying, call the school you're interested in to find out what they say. All the people I know that have applied and been accepted had their BSN prior to applying.

Thnx for the info guys, I guess I just needed that final clarification. I will plan to send my applications in anyway stating a BSN in progress on my app, knowing I will have a lesser chance at being admitted to the many competitive CRNA programs. Hopefully I will be accepted atleast on my second try when I have my BSN completed:).
