MTSA Interview

Students SRNA

I haven't found any recent postings regarding MTSA....The interview sounds horrifying compared to other programs....Can anyone share the scenarios that they pulled out of the hat before going into the interview with the "panel of judges"?? lol And if you got in...did you answer every question correctly? I have never been so nervous in my entire life!! Thanks so much!!

Apparently, we are cruising the forums looking for the same info.

I interview on the 12th and couldn't be more nervous.

I also chose the 12th ...3:30pm. What time is your interview at? I had found one post from someone about them wanting an explanation regarding the medication down to the endoplasmic reticulum or something....if that is the case...I'm not going to do so well. I have been an ICU nurse for 8 years...I know my drugs but more at a receptor level and whatnot. This is by far the worst interview you can get versus other schools.....freaking out...and I am sitting for my CCRN on the 8th LOL Talk about self-punishment haha

I chose 830am... mainly because I don't want to dread it all day and need to drive back to Indiana the same day :)

I did learn all the drugs that I listed on my application to cellular level. A friend of mine said the only drug question she was asked was a drug that came up during the presentation of her case study.

CCRN is no joke... at least most of your studying should apply during interview. I've had my CCRN for awhile and cracked my PassCCRN book to study :-/

You have more ICU experience than I do. My biggest worry is what kind of patient pool do I draw my case study from? Most of my experience is with Trauma/Neuro, but sometimes a nice simple Septic patient from the MICU would be easier to cover.

Maybe there is no simple case studies for the Interview though.

I might ask (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) if there are openings earlier in the day...I don't love mornings but wishing I picked an earlier time for that reason! We move to Fort Campbell Feb 7th...so I had to drop 550 on a plane ticket just for the interview...blah...I am having the same issue with where to draw from b/c the majority of my time I have floated thru 7 different ICU's...Septic shock would be a nice scenario ....I am thinking I will pull from cardiac... I found one person that posted 2 years ago mentioning he pulled a CABG x5 for his scenario....only asked a few questions and they asked him about inserting a PA cath and to explain the process...Some people get drilled and some don't it seems...maybe there is no rhyme or reason? I haven't done neuro anything since neuro ICU in 2011..I have forgot much of it..

Cardiac would be the worst for me... Really struggled on the CCRN test just because so much of it was cardiac related. :)

Just a heads up, I was told that we should get the call on Thursday of that week, so should know by the 15th.

I have been struggling with the neuro questions for CCRN practice test...Hoping I do ok on Thursday and can walk in there and say...OH BTW...I passed my CCRN LOL To know that fast would be amazing! I do not love how you need such a large deposit there...much larger than any other school I looked into...but it is what it is. I am going over my vent stuff tonight to refresh on the different settings...my Kaplan CCRN book kinda sucks I decided. LOL I can't even remember what drugs I put on my application!!! I am sticking with dopa, dobutamine, levo, neo, and milirone I think lol

Luckily I kept a copy of my application. Those sound like pretty common ICU drugs. Deposit freaked me out to but worth it if in. :)

Vent questions I'm worried about too. I know the modes etc. etc.... just not sure what they might ask.

I am studying the meds I put on my app and I am studying my PASS CCRN book... I'm an ICU float nurse so it's hard to choose which ICU, but I received my experience in CVICU.
