While I appreciate that there are HIPAA and institutional regulations to consider regarding my request, I would love the opportunity to shadow a CRNA in the NYC/NJ area. I am currently enrolled in an associates level nursing program although I hold graduate degrees in a health related discipline. Becoming a CRNA seems like an attractive option but I don't have a sense of what the job is really like. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think if you contact an local hospital anesthesia dept, they should be able to help you out. Shadowing a CRNA would give you a better idea of what the profession entails. Some schools
are strict on the BSN prep. I just completed my first year of a front loaded program (all classes with minimal clinicals). You will learn to assess, plan , and adminster the anesthetic based on your pt health and surgical needs. In a metro area, much of this is done by the anesthesiologist. You are responsible for the pt once they go to sleep. Good luck in your career.

I am also looking for a crna to shadow in the nyc/surrounding areas to shadow. I was wondering if you have come to any luck with shadowing one? Any information would be great!
