I would like some input on where I stand as far as getitng accepted into CRNA school. I have done research, however input form other SRNAs or CRNAs is much appreciated. I am 23, finishing my BSN, have 1 1/2 yrs exp in IMC and ISC, PICC line placment, will be taking GRE this summer. GPA 3.42. I am applying to schools next year. I know my experience is minimal but, I am a very motivated and a fast learner. Just curious on what my chance are. Thank you

Specializes in CVICU, CCRN, now SRNA.

There are too many factors... where you're applying, your refs, your experience/knowledge, the GRE score you don't have yet... There's only one way to find if you're going to get in: apply!

not sure what imc or isc is, but you'll need critical care experieince. consider taking a class towards the crna as a non matriculated student during that year. also, look into getting your ccrn.

the experience, the ccrn, and the graduate credits should raise your chances! good luck!

Hi RN724!

I have been wondering that same thing myself. I am currently an LPN with 5 years surgical/trauma experience. In my hospital RNs and LPNs function rather the same. I am transfering to the ICU to gain one year of Critical Care experience right when I graduate, to meet the requirement prior to the start of classs. I recently emailed the director of the closest nurse anesthetist program and laid out my senerio. She said it was not unreasonable to apply, but to be reasonable that I may not get in. I think it never hurts to appy, although it may be $$$. Good luck!

do you have critical care experience

Yes, I have a year and a half of intensive surgical care (ISC) and Intensive Medical Care (IMC) Thanks all for your input

Moved to the Pre-CRNA Inquiry Forum. Good luck!

I think alot of it depends on the schools you apply to also. Some accept 10-12 applicants while others accept 30-40 and some even more than that. I would definitley look into getting your CCRN certification. Several places were impressed that I had it. Good Luck!

I really think this forum is good for asking questions about specific schools but when it comes to general questions of being curious what your chances are of getting in it really doesn't help much. Find what specific school you want to get into and then you can get more specific info from this site. Hope that makes sense!
