Crna school

Nursing Students SRNA

I want to become a CRNA. Just looking for advice about crna schooling & overall what the job is like for current crnas! Thanks

The simplest way to find out what a CRNA does is to simply shadow one. I had the fortunate experience when I was doing OR clinicals for my paramedic and thought it would be an awesome career if I didn't get on a career fire department, which was my first passion. I will start shadowing again in the Spring officially for school applications. There is a ton of information out there if your just willing to look and research. Also you will need to be willing to research since that is a big portion of your BSN and later on in CRNA school. You know, Evidence-Based Practice, so it might help you to start using your research skills like many of have already done.

So you assume I haven't researched this topic or taken BSN courses just because I asked a question about CRNA experiences? ...What is the point of anything you just said to me?

From your original post it sounded like you hadn't. Like I said, the best way to find out what a CRNA does and what school is like is to shadow one or simply talk to one at your facility.

So looking over your previous posts on allnurses it seems like you are currently working long term care. First step to becoming a CRNA, get into a hospital in an ICU for a minimum 1 year but preferably 2 or more. Next step is to obtain your BSN or if you already have it then congrats because your one step closer. Minimum 3.0 GPA preferably with a strong science GPA since CRNA is heavy sciences. CCRN is a must, GRE depends on the school.

My best advice is to get a job in the ICU, research CRNA programs and find out what is required for admission. Possibly ask to shadow a CRNA at your hospital (assuming you work as a staff RN).

Do you have nothing else better to do than to write senseless comments lol? Pretty sure any normal person would understand I am INTERESTED in becoming a CRNA and am looking for advice. AND there are different settings where crnas work. In the future, don't bother commenting on my posts if you don't have anything useful to contribute. Thanks!

It's not your place to tell me what to do with my time. And I'm pretty sure you can't stop me from commenting on anyone or anything I choose to.

This all got awkward :bored:

How disappointing is this thread? Clearly the poster wants personal insights related to the CRNA role.

Isn't the purpose of allnurses is to create a space for professionals and aspiring professionals to converse, NOT to troll. I am tired of the "nurses eating their young attitude". You can be strong and kind. You can be a leader and an example without putting others down. Bitterness is not healthy.

wow some of you guys are a piece of work. This person just asked, being mean about it isn't the way. hey feel free to email me [email protected]. Other than that, yes shadowing is great. go to a website allcrna and they have quite an extensive wealth of information. I have been researching since 2010, got in and still had questions up to as recent as a week. anyway good luck on your journey.

My advice, actually, besides the mandatory ICU experience/shadowing, is to be able to answer the above "mean" comments without feeling personally attacked and answering so snarky (xo... really?). Those questions are the SAME ones most programs will ask you when/if you interview and are incredibly valid. You've got to prove you've done it on your own for your own reasons.
