I attended this last week and got some very interesting information. I will try to sum it up below:

1) Their program is 28 months - longer than a traditional 24 months

2) In turn they consider their MSN to have a superior overall training than a MSC, and not being any less science intensive

3) Tuition is about $35-38,000

4) Their surgical training unit is nice and very new looking, with simulators and all.

5) They boast they are the only univ with clinical rotations (I cannot believe they are the only ones with this at all) and openly said no other university has this feature - where you go to different hospitals and train in different units etc.

You are correct, most anesthesia programs have multiple clinical sites which the student rotates through. That's not unusual, in fact I'd say it would be unusual to not have clinical rotations. Also most programs are at the 28-30 month legnth, not too many at 24 months left.

I was at this seminar as well! It was very informative, and I loved how they had 4 different SRNA's with different backgrounds.

A few other things

*In order to pass the program, they require about 80-100 hours/week including clinicals/study time/classes

*They allow 25 days off throughout the 28 month period.

*They claimed that their tuition is one of the cheapest there is (prices stated from the previous poster)

*They also offer a tuition reimbursement if you are hired into Beaumont as a CRNA.

hey guys thanks for d info, i take my gres tomorrow because their deadline is sept 15, i am applying there for next fall...spoke with d office few weeks back...how is their interview/acceptance raes...blah blah

They posted their acceptance rates for Fall '07

Out of 195 applicants, 75 were called back to interview and 25 were selected out of those to attend the school.

They were presented in the seminar slide-show. :)

Did they discuss the average GPA, GRE, and years ICU experience of the last class admitted.

I do not recall them discussing that with factual information. They said that they accept applicants with a 3.0+ GPA as well as a

Obviously, these scores are low if you want to be competitive - and they mentioned that the applicants they picked to interview had much more appealing GPA/GRE.

As for the ICU - they just want you to have 1 year or more. 2/4 of the SRNAs there were admitted with only 1 year of ICU experience. They did mention that if you had 1 year of ICU experience that you needed to make up for it by joining committees, being an educator and getting certifications.
