Barry CRNA Starting 2018

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello all! I just thought I would start a thread for those of us applying. I have started my application and I am working on my personal statement now. How are you all doing?

I have taken the GRE and passed my CCRN. I still need to get my PALS. I also need to ask for my letters of recommendation and send in my school transcripts & GRE scores. I'm going to try to apply for the Tampa campus.

No, I have not, the only thing I was told when I called Barry last week is that first round of interviews will be in March and will continue through September once a month...

Hello all,

I am currently in the midst of completing my application as well. I was wondering what y'alls thoughts are on GRE verbal score of 146 and quantitative score of 159? I have been told two different things and am curious about retaking it. Also if I retook it my scores wouldn't get to the school until mid to late March. Would I still be able to get accepted in time to start the head start classes?

Thanks for all your help!

Looking at admission stats from previous years, you might be ok with the 146 and not have to retake depending on how the overall application looks. Is your GPA strong, especially in sciences and your last 60 credits? Good ICU experience? You might be ok with not having to retest. But if you're worried about it and want to take it again, I think March would be plenty of time to have new scores submitted and still be up for consideration before the Head Start classes begin. I think the summer semester isn't till late May/early June and there's also the fall semester to take those classes.

What I would recommend is that you apply with these GRE scores. Your quant, score are rock solid, normally applicants have better verbal than quant scores. Schools like to see a higher quant. score over the verbal score. You will still get the interview and may even get accepted but the school may ask you to improve your verbal score by the time you start the program in Janurary of next year. So your admissions status would be conditional based on if you achieve a higher verbal score. So I would say don't retake at this moment, go ahead and apply and wait to hear back! You'll get a interview for sure as long as your GPA is decent. Hope this helps!

These are what my stats look like:

GPA 3.75, although I haven't taken many science courses

CCRN

2 years in MICU

And then GRE verbal 146 and quantitative 159.

I spoke with the gal who does the anesthesia webinar and she said I could submit then retake the GREwith skipping the essay and quantitative sections. Then resubmit just my verbal score.

Has anyone heard anything recently? This wait is tough!
