Any insights from anyone that knows about Albany Medical College's CRNA interview? Thanks. Dewzer

I think you need at least 15 posts before you can send a Private message, but go ahead and ask any questions, and I'd be glad to answer

Haha.. i should just make 15 random posts. Would you be able to email me? I have been in touch with the faculty at Albany and am meeting with them this September. I am planning on applying next summer for matriculation in Fall 2013. Any information or advice would be great!

Their main focus is science GPA. This program is really heavy in the sciences, and makes up of the majority of the classes in the first semester. So, if you havent completed all of the required courses to get into school, I'd suggest that you do really really well on them.

Hello, I will be interviewing at Albany this November and I was wondering if anyone had any insights on how clinically in-depth the interview questions were? I intend on brushing up on a broad base of information, but not sure if I need to know drugs down to the g-protein cellular level :-/

They give you a written quiz that is CCRN- like. As far as interview questions, they'll ask about dopamine/propofol/ phenylepherine ect. Know dosages and side effects, and the receptor they work on. That should be sufficient. The questions in the interview aren't too bad! Good luck!

Hi Missy121,

I'll be interviewing at Albany next month and am very excited. I'm hoping to start next fall. I was wondering if you could tell me more about the program. Are you happy with it? What would you say are its strengths and weaknesses? I can't see too many posts about it, and am mostly wondering about the student experience. How big is your class? How were clinicals? Did you find that you competed with anesthesiololy residents?

Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hey mpg234, how was your interview? Are you starting there in the Fall? I am interviewing this week! I heard that the interview is "laid back" (as much as an interview can be), and very different from my experience interviewing at Rutgers where questions were thrown at you for about 15 minutes straight. Any insight into the interview would be great!

Hi Jennifer87, The interview was not too bad, very straight forward. Questions like why crna, tell me about your floor, sickest patient, etc. Nothing out of left field, and definitely no grilling. You also go on a tour with a current student. There's a quiz at the end that's CCRN-like, which I didn't feel too great about, but I'm not sure how much weight is placed on it because I was accepted and I'll be starting there this Fall! I can't wait. Good Luck with your interview. I'm sure it'll go well, let me know how it goes.

Hi I was wondering if you had any suggestions on topics to study for the CCRN-like quiz at the end. Also mpg234, how do you like the program now that you have started???

about 50 questions. mostly cardiac and respiratory centered. Some EKG strips and scenarios on what you would do.

thanks lovelyRN646! has anyone heard from them recently and was offered and interview??? I just finished my organic/biochemistry course, I am really hoping to get an interview at the start of the New Year!

This seems to be the only thread that has people actively involved with the Albany experience! I have questions about the program- pros/cons what it would be like with a family. I'm concerned about the low number of anesthesia cases 650/student vs Kaiser's 1200. What are the clinicals like? Do MD students get priority- Do you drive hours in the NY winter- etc. I would LOVE to talk with someone who is or has been with this program!! Missy121, mpg234.... anyone? :-)

p.s. - how do I contact other posters directly?
