University of Central Missouri

  1. 0 I found out I was accepted the the FNP program on Friday!! Woohoo!! The program focuses on rural family practice, which is one of the things that interested me about the program in the first place. I have searched high and low on this site, and there is practically no information about this school and this program. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Anyone been through this program or in it now?

Have you started yet? I also plan on applying to that FNP program? Can I ask what your GPA is? Mine is only a 3.25. Do you know if that is high enough to be competitive>?

I applied for the FNP program for fall 2014. Any info on this program is greatly appreciated! I do not know anyone who has attended. I work full time nights and have little kids so I am trying to be prepared when decision time comes!

I'm in the process of applying for Spring 2015. I haven't been able to find any information about acceptance rates for the FNP track thus far.

I was accepted and am now attending the FNP program at UCMO. I was admitted Fall 2013. I was told they accepted 50% of applicants who applied that year. I had a 3.5 undergrad GPA and was at first waitlisted. I was called a few weeks later and taken off of the wait-list.

Oh that exciting that you got in! I am really liking the program so far, I love the online learning and the affordability of the program. I have taken Statistics, Theory, and Research classes and all my teachers have been very helpful and organized.

For anyone who is currently attending - did you have any trouble working a 36 hr/3 day workweek? I'm a bit worried about the time commitment, although I'm fully aware it's a part time program.

The program has been very doable so far. I had started out doing all the online classes and I was able to do that plus work full time plus have a baby and take care of my other child & hubby. Then I started clinicals and had to cut back A LOT. I now work prn only but I am going to be doing lots of clinical hours until I graduate in a year. They don't recommend doing the program this way anymore, now they want you to take one online class with one clinical class as soon as possible. I think that would help spread things out.

Thanks for the information! How many total clinical hours are required? Did you have a hard time lining up preceptors at all?
