by justhink Mar 8, '12I was just accepted to UMKC's FNP program and was looking for feedback from anyone currently in the program or has graduated from it. Are you/were you satisfied with the quality of the program? Do you feel it has/is preparing you well? What is your opinion of the faculty and textbooks? Any feedback on what's good, what's bad, etc. would be much appreciated!

- Mar 12, '12 by mlb1d1This is an extremely intensive program. I feel that I was well prepared. However, the program itself is unorganized and very frustrating if you are a type A personality.

- Mar 13, '12 by justhinkAnother poster on this board (from a few years back) mentioned being given assignments that had nothing to do with advanced nursing (or nursing at all) - did you experience anything like this?
- Mar 15, '12 by SmellTheCoffeeernightlife i applied for the full-time program and haven't heard anything yet. i called the son's office and was told we will be notified by end of march.
- Mar 17, '12 by BrylynCongratulations on your admission. This is a very, very difficult program, but you should be well-prepared when you graduate. I have heard from other NP's that they prefer to precept UMKC students because they are much further along than students from other programs. The standards are extremely high and they will NOT pass you if you do not get a B on your midterm and a B on your final...despite what grades you get on your papers and other tests. A B minus is a FAIL. The only "complaint" I have heard is that they tend to be disorganized which surprised me since the students are all Type A and must be organized to be successful in this program.
- Mar 23, '12 by ernightlifeThanks SmellTheCoffee for that info....I have been anxiously checking my mailbox every day! When I applied they told me it would be around the first of April before I would know something, but I am impatient. I applied for the full-time program as well.
