I was recently accepted into the Texas Woman's University-Houston MSN-FNP Summer 2014 Program. I was hoping to get some advice on what classes are recommended to take together, and which one's should be avoided. My advisor had me register for Theory, and Advanced pathology to start off my first semester. I will also be working full-time when I start the program. So any information about work/school balance would also be helpful. Any advice would be appreciated.

I started my first semester at TWU Houston this Spring. Yes, it is recommended for you to take patho and theory together. Those classes are doable together and prepare you well for the upcoming classes. Be prepared, there is quite a bit of group work in those classes...so I hope that you "work well with others." This summer I am taking research and health promotion, based on my counselor's recommendations. During the summer (your first semester), you will meet with your counselor (in person) and determine a degree plan. Based on what you're comfortable with, you and your counselor will set up your schedule each semester until graduation. And, of course you can change it if needed.

I am working part time, so I cannot really attest to how difficult it would be to juggle full time work and school. Many people do it, plus have children, and are successful, though. As long as you keep up with your assignments each week, I don't think you'll have any problems. I knew one girl who was taking patho, pharm, and theory together. She's doing ok, but I wouldn't recommend that madness. lol. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

I've been accepted to the FNP program at the Dallas location. I've not yet been able to reach my advisor. I'm thinking of taking Patho, Theory, and Assessment in my first semester, which will be Fall. I will be working full time weekends and an additional weeknight shift, and I have three small kids. I hope I can handle it lol

Thanks for the feedback! It's been helpful! Tx_icu, did you take patho online? And if so how were the essay exams?

Hey guys!

I have been accepted into the FNP program at Houston Location this summer. I am so curious as well as nervous.

Just wondering if anybody is going for the same program this summer. Also for the current student, can someone give me an idea of the textbooks for Patho and Theory. Based on my research so far I am thinking of starting with these two courses and feel that its wise to plan ahead. Your input will be appreciated.

Hi all,

I've been accepted into FNP at UTHSC houston and TWU houston. Anyone have any feedback on which program to pursue. Is one better than the other? What makes themm different? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

How much of the TWU FNP is offered online? I live in Austin so it wouldn't be a problem for me to drive to Houston like once a month. But didn't know if it was more of a hybrid type of program. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I just got accepted yesterday to the post masters FNP program at TWU. I think my main focus will be clinical courses since I've already completed advanced patho, pharm, and health assessment. Also I've completed research and theory courses.

I'm curious to know how clinicals are set-up? Do we find our own or do they assist?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!!
