St Joseph's College of Maine FNP program students

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I wanted to start this thread for all of the new (and current) students at Saint Joseph's College of Maine FNP program.

Any info, news, updates or questions/concerns could be asked here for all the new and current students.

Any advice that the current students can give us new students would be greatly appreciated :)

For example...

1. How many books are required for NU 501?

2. Has setting up clinicals been difficult?

3. Have the current students had any trouble communicating with your advisors? Do they get back to you promptly?

4. Overall, how has the experience been? Are you glad you are in this program?

Thanks so much!

Hi guys, any advice/input on NP 602 (Adv Pharm)?

Thanks

Hi...was in NP 603...ultimately withdrew cause I could not seem to satisfy the instructor either. I am transitioning to Chamberlain it looks like.

SJCME needs to take a hard look at the Adv Pharm class. Mine was a mess, and I did complain.

I'm just completing my first clinical rotation this week!

CookiePB, How was the first clinical rotation?? I start mine March 31st. Did you feel prepared? Love to hear any feedback from you!

I was so nervous to start! I listened to review CDs for about a month prior. I felt fairly prepared, but had a few very dumb moments. :) If you are permitted to have your phone or device (and have one), Epocrates was very handy for me. I also have a few Tarascon guides I use. Good luck!

Thank you for the feedback. I am nervous as well!! What review CDs did you use??

Specializes in cicu,pccu.

Yeah it's worth taking over that 2 weeks during july. It does cost alot though I think 1500 total something like that.

So, for those that posted problems with the Pharma class, what specifically did the instructor not to seem to be satisfied with? The written assignments, chosen meds for scenario, ?? I've just started. How are the quizzes?

I will be starting the FNP program at St Joseph's college of Maine 3/31 - any other newbies out there? Any suggestions from the current students? Did you have to wait long for a cohort for your clinicals?

SJC graduates.....Roughly how long did it take from graduation to be able to receive the paper work to sit for the boards?? Is it possible to take the boards within 2 months after?? Thank you!!

Tracey, How long did it take for you to be able to sit for the boards after graduation?? I have heard school stretch this process out as well. Thanks for your feedback!

vkirby63,

I'm currently working on the last clinical courses. I did not wait for a cohort for clinicals. I think there are enough students in the program now that they start cohort every month.

RN-In Maine,

Thank you for asking this question. I too, would like to know if I will be able to sit for the board exam right after the graduation. If possible, I would like to take the exam ASAP. One of my friends who graduated from different school took the exam even before the graduation day. So I think it depends on how the school helps the process.
