Nursing Students NP Students

Specializes in Pain Management, RN experience was in ER.

I have done a few searches, but haven't found many responses (or at least newer) re: St. Joseph's nurse practitioner program. I'm considering it because it seems flexible, reasonable, and like a good opportunity from what I can tell. Please share your experiences!! Is $600/credit reasonable for an online program? I feel it's almost worth it so that I can start sooner rather than later!

Thanks in advance :)

Hi I am a Saint Joseph College student in the FNP program hopefully one of the first people who will get to graduate in 2012 in the FNP program

Specializes in Home Health, Foster Care.

Hi.

I am in the FNP program. I just started but I had a head start because the school took 2 of my core classes from my other university. I just finished nursing informatics and will start nursing leadership on Tuesday. So far I like the classes and I like the way that the classes are self paced. You get 15 weeks to finish a class but I finished informatics in 6 weeks. I plan on doing the same thing for the next class and possibly would like to take 2 classes after leadership and I will be done with the core classes and can go on to the NP classes which I am looking forward to. Hopefully I can finish by next year.

Specializes in ICU.

You hope to be done in a year? Wow that sounds quick. I've applied and hoping they take some of my classes.

Yes, the way I planned out my schedule because the school took two classes already and I finished one last week and I am starting one tomorrow which is leadership. I have two more out of the 5 cores to do which I think I will do together after I finish leadership. Then you go onto the NP classes which is the advanced pharm, health assessment and pathophysiology. After that hopefully onto clinicals. I am doing the classes like I did my MBA classes. Each were 7 weeks long and that is how I am doing my schedule for the FNP.

Let me know how the classes are going! I start in 11 days! Ordered my first book for 9.99 off ebay. :) Now THAT is exciting.

A bit nervous.

I'm just starting FNP in ST Joseph's. Can anyone clue me in as to what I should expect with Nursing Informatics?

Do I need all the books they are telling me to buy?

Is it just Reports to write or is there a test?

Thanks,

Meir

I just completed my application for enrollment in the MSN/FNP program at Saint Joseph's College of Maine. It was not lengthy. They are starting the applicant evaluation process on July 31. I was wondering if you found it difficult to get accepted into the program and how long after you applied did it take for you to find out you were accepted? Thanks for any information you can provide.

I am currently finishing Nursing Informatics. I will have it completed in 4 weeks instead of 15 and I am moving on to Nursing Policy starting next week. There are no tests. It's a compilation of PowerPoints, research papers and Excel spreadsheets. I would HIGHLY recommend the APA Publication Manual 6th Edition. There have been so many changes since the 5th edition that it is not going to work for this course. As for the other books, I rented them from ecampus.com. I have used them a few times, but I'm better at skimming the readings instead of actually reading them chapter by chapter. I hope this helps! Good luck :)
