I'm thinking about starting South University. Is there anyone here attending and if so, how do you like the program. How are the classes formatted? Also, has it been difficult for anyone earning an online degee with NP to find a job? Thanks.

I tried to send you a message. I'm currently going through the application process to South and would love some more information. I'm still apprehensive about any on-line program and would love your input.

Sorry cardnation, I just came across your post. We have just started the new term (Thursday). I am taking w classes so I can start my clinicals this coming February. So far, I can say I am impressed with the school. As with any online program...you get out what you put in. The more your research and learn, the more stuff sinks in and you feel you are learning. The school allows you to "stagger" classes...start one then start another in about 3 weeks, or you can take two at a time. Clinicals are one at a time. I liked this school for three reasons: recommended to me by nurses I know who got their MSN (in other degrees), price (not so expensive that I will paying forever when I get out), and no campus visits (they send a representative out to evaluate you at your practicum site).

Starting in December. If anyone has enrolled, PM me so we can connect!

So...to follow up on students at South University, hows it going? feedback please? My daughter is looking to enroll in a totally online program for her MSN FNP. fiancée in military and she never knows where/if they will have to relocate. Currently in NC. Any suggestions on a great online program? feedback on South University Online Program? thanks.....a helping mom!

Hello all, I have recently been accepted to South University's FNP program and I was wondering if those of you in it right now could tell me what you think about it. Are you having any difficulties? I have read a lot of bad reviews on the internet about the school in general, but not to much bad stuff about the nursing program. I would really appreciate any feedback you could give. If I do decide to go there I will start in March, so if anyone else will be starting then too, let me know and we can go through it together!

Thanks!

As you can see from the posts here, most are doing very well with the program. As with all online courses, there is an awful lot of writing. You are in advanced classes, so APA is quite important...the problem is each teacher has their own "twist". As with any teacher, once you learn how they tick, you will do fine. I started at the end of March 2013, and will be completing the core curriculum classes next Wednesday and finally beginning the road of the practicums and NP classes. There will be a final capstone class at the completion of the program, this is the same if you are at a physical school site or online.

How are things going for you at South University?

Jennabean I recently completed the RN to BSN online program in January 2012 and I can tell you I was never sorry that I went to South University. The instructors were all top notch and they understood that the majority of the students were juggling ful time jobs while trying to attend school. It was abgreat program. If I had to choose one negative thing of SUO it would be that they kept changing my class advisor every 6 months which was frustrating at times. I am considering their MSN nursing leadership program.

I've been accepted in to the RN-BSN program at South University? What are the classes like (papers, tests, quizzes, discussion posts, etc)?? please let me know

Hey yall, I have recently requested more info on the MSN-FNP program and spoke directly with a rep from the school. I asked all the typical questions and he seemed very personable and interested in assisting me. Any current students interested in commenting on how the program as gone? Any hiccups? Any red flags? Thanks.

I considered SU for all of 5 minutes. The rep was very nice at first but kept pressuring me to complete my FASFA and complete my app. She wanted me to get my stuff in in less than a week to start the following week. I told her I was uncomfortable rushing into enrolling and I wanted to do more research before committing. The rep angrily told me she was suspending my app and then she hung up on me, I was in shock.

I found the reps to be pushy as well. I was enrolled in a class before I even made a final decision on whether to attend. That was a red flag to me and I went elsewhere because of it

Yuck. I commented on South in a more current thread that I found after this one but my concerns centered around the fact that they are For Profit. For profits schools are scorned in other avenues of health care such as MD/PA and yet I was surprised by the overwhelming positivity here. The rep I spoke with was pleasant and all but was not pushy other than he was more than ready to get me enrolled asap if I was ready. I replied that I wasn't yet and he asked if he could check back on me in a couple of weeks if he didnt hear from me and I said yes. Sounds like I should consider other places. What a bummer.
