    Hello,
I need help. I am a FNP student at University of Miami. I am trying to set up a preceptorship for the Spring Semester (Jan-May) in the Adult/Primary Care/urgent care health setting with an NP or MD. I need between 100 -150 hours that we can schedule at your convenience.
I live in Coral Springs, so I am looking for something not terribly far if possible, but I am flexible.
    A little about me...
I am a highly motivated professional student in my mid 30's. I was an ER RN prior to returning to school. I am intelligent and easy to get along with. I exhibit professional and couteous behavior at all times and I work hard to establish a positive rapport with my clients and peers. I am eager to learn - really! and looking for someone who enjoys teaching. Of course, I have student malpractice and am covered by UM.
I have had several wonderful people offer to precept me, but UM has strict insurance regulations that offices must have 1 million/3 million insurance.
If you feel that this could be an opportunity to share your knowledge and contribute to shaping the future of healthcare, please contact me or send a copy of this to someone who might be interested!
    Thank you,
    Kim

  5. Thanks for your response Daisy. My biggest problem is the 1 million/3million insurance. The NP's and MD who have offered to precept me all have less. I am not sure if 1/3 million is a lot or this is just a flukey thing< but thanks for the website info!

Its mostly a Florida thing. More than 30% of Florida physicians go bare. The rest usually maintain minimum liability which is $100k/$300k. The only places that will carry the required insurance are hospital employed NPs or physicians as well as academic centers (who tend to be self insured). There is a nice article about this here:
