So how is everyone preparing for interviews?

So far, I've had an informal mock interview where a friend asked me interview questions that he found online as well as some of the questions that were from this forum (I can't remember if it was this year's or last year's). I now have a good sense of what I need to work on. For all the questions, I have been typing out the answers in bullet points so I have a general flow of ideas. Next step for me would be to talk through them aloud - not to memorize, but to see if the ideas flow just as well verbally.

I only just started reading this thread, so I'm late to the discussion here. My interview for the Psych NP track is tomorrow at 3pm. I just watched this amazing TED talk that all who've not yet interviewed need to see. It's a discussion about how your body language--certain poses in particular--deeply affects your hormone levels by raising your testosterone and lowering your cortisol. There is specific information in it about how this affects interview performance. Watch the video, but in a nutshell: strike a power pose for 2 minutes prior to your interview (you can go into the bathroom and do it. The power poses are shown on the talk.) and DO NOT sit in the classic hunched-over-checking-your-text-messages sort of pose, as that will negatively affect your hormone levels. It's all about ensuring that you show them the best of who you are rather than being overrun by nerves and negative attitudes towards the self. You'll probably have to copy and paste the link into the browser window as the link function does not seem to be working for me. Good luck to everyone :-)

Wow, thank you so much for sharing that, ZenMama. It's so eye-opening when they show the data from the experiment and it's definitely something that I will keep in mind for the interview. Best of luck on your interview tomorrow. Strike that Wonderwoman pose! ;)

Hello All! I know this is a very stressful process! I am currently in the 2012 cohort and I want to encourage you all not to lose hope! We have several people in our cohort who were admitted during the spring and even just a week prior to the program starting. Many people change their minds even after their acceptance so there is always a chance that you could still be asked to join the program. As you are accepted, please join the facebook group http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/387599551329078/. This is a great place to ask questions and to get to know each other. Good luck to all of you!! I wish you all the best!!

Hi Everyone. I interviewed on March 2nd for the FNP track. One of the interviewers indicated that I would hear back around April. Did anyone else interview in March? Were you given the same time frame? I'm wondering if this time frame is for the FNP track. Gosh, it's easy to try to speculate too much. Anyhow, my interview went okay, but I thought it was difficult to stay within a 30 minute time frame and answer fairly broad-based questions. It's hard to convey who you are and a 10-yr plan in 30 minutes. But everyone was in the same boat. Of course, I wish all of you the best of luck. I am certain that any of those interviewed would make great NPs.

Hi everyone! I interviewed for the FNP track on March 2, and am also anxiously awaiting my decision. I was told that decisions should be coming this week. Has anyone already been accepted to the FNP track?
