Online NP Programs

  1. 0 Hello all,
I'm currently a RN working on obtaining my BSN. I've been a nurse about 2 years and have worked part time in the ER and full time as a Community Outreach/Diabetes Educator. I'm intrested in furthering my education as possibly a FNP and am researching online FNP programs, as I live in a VERY rural area. Any good ones out there? Currently I've looking into University of Cinnicinati, anyone have experience with them? Thank you for your help!

You can actually do a search on here and several have been posted. I started a thread a few years ago asking the same thing. I got some good results.

Frontier Nursing University is an excellent, online program. two visits to campus are required (3 days for the first and 9 days for the second) and it is is very competitive. They also have excellent graduation rates and pass rates on the certification exam. Hope this helps!

Texas Tech was pretty easy for me to get into. I know they like the rural aspect of care, but I'm doing the ACNP program there....Graduate summer of 2013

I am enrolled for Walden University 12/3/12 start date. It is a well recognized school, accredited by CCNE. I have a few friends that started in september who like it so far with no issues. 80% retention rate which is really good. And the cost is unbeatable! 23,000 for the program, they also offer the DNP post certificate if you are interested in that. I also live in a rural area

I am attending Georgetown University's program online. Extremely competitive (and expensive) but part of their mission is to provide care for those living in rural and high-need areas, so you may have a good chance at being accepted if you highlight that aspect of your work in the admissions process. The program itself can be completed quickly with two visits to the campus in Washington D.C. Good luck!
