I recently talked with a seasoned NP who said her greatest difficulty was finding preceptors. I am currently on the hunt to find a BSN to NP Geriatric program that sets you up with a preceptor. Is there such a school in the US? Please let me know. Thank you!

I would check with your local brick and mortar universities.

Michigan State University/Lansing, if you need preceptors and nothing else. Most of of clinicals for NP students happens in places which get rejected by their medical school - such as community clinics and even jails. But if that is a deal breaker for you, please be my guest!

UConn provides preceptors. They hope and recommend that you find your own via your RN connections, but at the end of the day they always come through. Pedi and OBGYN preceptors were difficult to find, but in a geri program that would be a non-issue.

There are still programs (believe it or not) that will find you preceptors. It sounds like you may not be living in the United States currently? Where are you moving to? That will help hone the programs.

Just to clarify/remind you, there are no gerontology NP programs anymore. They have merged with adult and are now adult-gerontology.
