Nova SouthEastern Fall 2012 FNP

Nursing Students NP Students

So, I got into Nova for the Fall 2012 FNP program. yaaay!! Orientation is this coming monday.

Anyone else starting?

Does anyone have an idea of what to expect?

Specializes in OR.

Thats crazy! When I called them last year they assured me they had all the proper accreditation. I am glad I chose to attend FAU! That would be awful to give up so much time and money and still not be able to be an NP!

You need to consult with a lawyer.

OMG!! I CAN'T even imagine the horror!!! Thank you so much for this information. I sat down with one of the admission rep/advisor yesterday because I was interested in their programs, she pull a lot of lies about the programs. When I asked her about the passing rate for the boards she told me " we don't have that information as of yet because they are not yet calculated". I should have knew something was wrong when she said that because the program started 3 YEARS AGO!! These people have no shame!

Dear APRN student

I find your remarks quite questionable. But the truth always prevails. I can only speak to the NOVA part.

Firstly, we have not had any graduating class as of date since our program started 2011 and our first graduating class will be in May 2014 and August 2014.

To find out if our MSN program is accredited all you have to do is go the CCNE nursing web site and look up the school; NOVA Southeastern Nursing graduate MSN program is accredited.

It is a shame that you choose to spread such slanderous remarks at a time where advance practice nursing is needed most and when Florida is seeking the full focus of our professional scope of practice in servicing our communities.

We stand behind our program. It is a highly competitive program (we have many applicants- compared to the number of seats available) because the word "out" from our students is that we are a rigorous and reputable program which prepares them for the real world of advance practice nursing.

Our entire faculty are actively practicing clinicians who are focused and committed at preparing the next generation of APRN students in becoming the leaders of advance practice nursing. We endeavor to prepare our students in achieving 100% passing rate in their certification boards and providing excellence in their care.

I have 20 years in the academic setting and have taught in various regional APRN programs. I am proud of the APRN student caliber at NOVA Southeastern University College of Nursing. We take pride in the ability to hand select the top applicants from the RN workforce. We look forward in impacting our communities by proving that Advanced Practice Nursing is the answer to our health care problem.

You are welcome to come and visit our campus in Palm Beach Gardens to meet our staff, faculty and the beautiful resources at our facility.

Hi favored103

I am a Nova Southeastern student who will be graduating this summer. I can assure you it is an accredited program, otherwise I highly doubt anyone would enroll. They do not have a pass rate yet, that is true as the first FNP class will graduate this spring. I personally like how the program is set up, for me it is very convenient as some of the program is online, but as you get further along you meet in the classroom once a week, which is what I wanted for my program. There are some that are totally online, but I learn better in a classroom situation. The professors are all knowledgable and professional. I have learned so much and am looking forward to putting it all together in a few months. I have met some really great people and we have all come along way together. It is a new program, so there may be a hiccup here or there, but nothing that as adult learners we can not figure out. As with any program you get out of it what you put into it. Is working well for me and many of my classmates and we all look forward to summer 2014 to graduate. Feel free to PM me if you want anymore information on the program.

Thanks

I am also a current FNP student at NOVA. I can also attest that the school is accredited and that the professors are very caring and knowledgable, for the most part.

The part that is a huge struggle is the very disorganized administration. Classes without professors, professors changing multiple times during a semester. Clinical professors and in class professors not being the same. Site visits being planned the last week and then its an emergency, even though the professor waited till the last minute. Incorrect contact information for program people online.

While the administration may be disorganized and be behind and very difficult to deal with, the actual professors are amazing and do really care.

Finding clinical sites on your own is also a nightmare, as there is really no help from the school at all, making it really hard, particularly for the specialty classes (peds, women's health).

Has anyone graduated from the NOVA FNP program? How was the program? How many years did it take? Did you pass your boards?

I am thinking of applying.

I know this post is really old but I just applied for the FNP track at Barry. How was the program ? What kind of questions did they ask the day of the interview? Any feedback is really appreciated from someone whose actually gone through the program. Looked at several nursing forums & haven't heard really anything on Barry's FNP program. I saw a lot of forums on their nurse anesthetist program. I just applied (February 2015) for their program that starts in the fall.

Hi, I wanted to know if anyone could give me any extra information on NUS MSN-FNP program, I am looking into the school and I have already started the application. A few questions that I have are, what were some of your gpa's getting into the program? Are the first semester courses online? Are there exams and papers in all of the core and theory classes? What is the level of difficulty and what makes the program difficult? And do yo receive assistance from the teachers with your assignments? Thank you, I hope to hear from someone soon.
