Georgetown Online FNP Fall 2013 Applicants

Hello everyone,

I have not been able to find a thread for Fall 2013 Georgetown applicants! So I am hoping that I did not look over any, and if I did, please let me know so that I can join in.

I applied to the Georgetown's on-campus FNP program and received an email last night that they are no longer offering on-campus instruction, but that my application will still be looked at normally for their online program.

Has anyone heard anything about their application process? How is everything going for anyone?

Hope to hear from some of your soon!

Hmmm...Interesting, well I called them and they said there was none. Perhaps they changed it for recently admitted folks. Anyway, I hope you have a great time!

I applied in the past and wasn't accepted since then I have shadowed a internist at his own practice in my town could i put that down instead of APN , since I don't work with any APNs or know anyone else I could shadow with

Sorry it has taken me forever to get back to this! I was accepted into Georgetown's online FNP program. I am starting the part time program in Sept. There is not an on campus visit. I have not received anything about having to be there on campus, but have received a lot of other information about starting after I was accepted.

I am also a "new nurse." I recently graduated from Emory University with my BSN, where the program was very focused on research (which will help me while I am in the program).

As of now I am awaiting my financial aid package (can't wait to see how much I have to pay for this!) and also the schedule for classes.

That's awesome Cody! I actually switched to the full time and I'm working per diem. I plan on taking out loans to pay for the partial cost of tuition.

Thank you very much....I am very nervous....This letter was sent by Barbara Garwood, Focus coordinator for Graceland University school of nursing. I have my focus session held on the Independence, MO Campus from Sept 9-10. I also have two letters regarding the hotels where to stay, check in/out times, attire and all the info that applies. I was surprised too because I live in Florida and it is going to be costly..but oh well, it is what it is.

I think you may be in the wrong chatroom, since this is one for Georgetown University not Graceland. I hope this makes you less nervous. Good luck!

Best of luck to everybody.

I found out about 4 days after my interview. Anything yet? I just decided on Belmont.

Hey Jenny,

How is georgetown treating you? Would you please give me details on your program. Have they found you clinicals close to u? Thanks

I submitted my completed application today for the FNP Jan 2014 start date and got an email today that my application is under review. My only fear is how will I afford this program. I really do have my heart set on Georgetown. I guess if I don't get accepted then I have nothing to fear. Anyone else applying for Jan 2014 start date?

CKPierce, I have my video essay to do to finish out my application for Georgetown, however, I can't start until May 2014. I too am worried about the cost but hoping I can manage it somehow and also still work as my income is it for our house. At least if I have to go down to per diem or part-time, I can apply for foods tamps and assistance until I'm finished with school. Things will be tight buy my heart is also set on Georgetown, although I have my application in for the University of Cincinnati too just in case. I had read a lot of posts that those not accepted to GU were at least accepted to UC in the end. Both have fantastic pass rates, but GU is just more prestigious and has the online synchronous classes that I would really like to take part in. I'm scared about the video, do you have a copy of yours? The ones i viewed online were not very good (off Youtube) so it concerns me that I need to have a good video! =) I know I was told it would be about a 3wk turn around time for decision to be made, while UC is 6-8wks!

Hi Tasha

Sorry, I don't have a copy of my video. I created it from their website and you cannot save a personal copy. I submitted my application and the video went with it. I cannot even access what I submitted (so save copies for yourself). I will apply at UC also. It is definitely more affordable. I like that at Georgetown you can attend classes live. So, you already did everything for your application but the video? WOW very nice because I thought I had a good head start since they are admitting for November right now. It doesn't seem like anyone in here is applying for November or January. I'll let you know when I hear something.

CKPierce,

Thanks for letting me know. Sheesh I'm super nervous about doing that video. I hope my Sciences GPA is high enough too. I screwed around my first year of college and didn't get that great of grades, however, the last two years of school I have had 3.0 for my AAS in nursing and a 3.7 for my BSN =) I seriously want this school badly, but again if it's not meant to be then I have University of Cincinnati in my back pocket just in case. The reason I chose those two is because i"m 1/2 way through my final course for my BSN and they are two of the only MSN program schools that I know will give a provisional acceptance prior to graduation based on your unofficial/official transcripts. My admission adviser told me it would take about 3wks to get either an acceptance or a denial. I hadn't seen any comments about Nov or Jan applications either. I'm sure a lot of people are shying away due to the higher cost of GU. UC is only liked $35K I think for the entire program and no campus visits. I think their pass rate is around 90-92% for licensing too. Anyway good luck and please do let me know what you find out! =)
