Hello,

My name is Jamie and I entering the GWU post-master's FNP program for the Fall of 2017. I was just wondering if anyone else is entering this program for this year? Feel free to email me at [email protected]. Let's get the ball rollin'!

MSN + FPN program! Is your program considerably shorter if you are post-masters?

It's about 1.5 years part time for the certification (they don't offer it full time). I think it's 3 years part time for the MSN + FNP right? Unless you're doing full time (only two years, I think). Not a huge difference in the long scheme of things.

Lets definitely touch basis soon (here or email)!

I chose the 3 year part-time so I could work full-time. Yes, let's definitely touch base! Any word on when our orientation will be?

From my understanding, I think it will be in August? I could be wrong though. They didn't specify on my email letter.

I'm also starting the post masters certificate FNP program in Fall 2017. They said the program starts 8/28/17 and they usually tell the students to keep the previous Wednesday open for orientation, so that would be 8/23. However, the website says orientation usually takes place the first or second week of August, so who knows :).

Hey all!

Question; is the BSN-DNP program the same (initially)? I figured since both programs have to go through the Master's and FNP certs then from the get go is should start as the same program?

Am I correct in assuming this?

Yes, it is initially the same if you are a post-BSN. You follow the MSN curriculum and then you go on to the DNP. I am a current student at GWU.

How do you like the clinical component? Is the material engaging?

I am starting clinicals this summer, as I'm a part-time student. I was a post-BSN to DNP student but have just turned in my papers to withdraw from the DNP portion.

You have to find your own clinical preceptors, and the material and the courses are what you make of it.
