Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing-FNP Program

Nursing Students NP Students

Hi all,

I am thinking about applying to Frontier for the FNP Program. While I have read and heard great things about the midwifery program, I haven't heard much about the FNP Program. I would appreciate any feedback from current students or graduates of the program. Thanks.

Frontier is HIGHLY respected and they are the VERY first in the country to offer education to prepare nurses as nurse-midwives and FNP's.As a matter of fact, a physician first told me about their history and about Mary Breckinridge. He was awestruck by the Frontier Nursing Service. Our class was given the honor of having an evening meal in the home of Mary Breckinridge and hearing a recording of her! Please look at their website. I researched many schools and have a high GPA and lots of experience, so I could really go just about anywhere. Frontier was tops in ALL of my criteria. They offer a rigorous education while also providing and fostering relationships with faculty and students. They truly embrace the human connection. To me, in this age of technology, Frontier upholds and maintains the importance of why we do what we do...the patient. By fostering a supportive learning environment and encouraging students to bond and work together, they are educating compassionate, extremely well-prepared practitioners who listen to each other and who listen to the patient.I am so grateful to be a part of this incredible history and feel most fortunate to be educated by such an excellent group of highly-educated, dynamic, supportive and creative professors! I encourage those interested to check out the website for our school. I am also happy to be availalble to anyone with questions.

All the best,

Barb

I'm not an alumni of Frontier but had heard many positive comments when I was thinking of grad school. They have an excellent reputation.

To all of you who responded to my post - THANK YOU! I appreciate you taking the time to share your feelings and knowledge. I love this forum!

Barb & TraumaRN - would it be OK if I pm'd each of you with some specific questions?

Anytime.

Specializes in RN, BSN, CHDN.

I am also thinking of applying here next year will be interested in hearing how it all goes

Colleenm....pm me anytime. I have nothing but rave reviews about my school! My advisor actually responded to an e-mail from me. It was a nothing e-mail. But, she took the time to let me know she is here for me. How many grad schools do that? This school isn't merely "lip-service". They REALLY do care as human beings. This tells me that this school not only fosters relationships with fellow nurses, but with our patients. This school empowers us as practitioners and it empowers patients. Frontier has it over ANY grad school.

ms sheesh,

I have also applied for Class 73. Crossing my fingers and toes for the both of us! :nurse:

Hi Sugah,

I haven't uncrossed my fingers or toes yet but now that I know you're applying as well, then I'll cross them even tighter. :D Isn't it torture to know that we have to wait two more months before we can get a reply? Did you have your interview yet?

Specializes in CCU,ED, Hospice.

I applied for the class starting in Aug but there was a delay in my recommendations and the next available class was the one starting in Feb. I have already had my phone interview (in Aug!) But as they say, the early bird..... Yes it is torture... I will be so glad to start classes!

I wish all of you the best in your application to Frontier. I am in the midst of classes, so I don't come here that much. But, if any of you want to hear from me, just PM me and we can share e-mail addresses. I have to say, I LOVE Frontier. Yes, it's rigorous, but it's fun to learn with faculty who REALLY care! I HIGHLY recommend this school!
