Trying to pick myself up after failing ANCC FNP certification exam and figure what to do now. I am already planning to re-take but do not know how to better prepare myself. I took the Fitzgerald CDs review twice as well as read through it a 3rd time. Looked through an assessment book, pharm and reviewed Leik's book. I am working on test taking strategies but would really like to talk to anyone who has failed and what they did to pass. Thanks.

I would like to join a study group too. I am wanting to take the ANCC test in Nov. I am just waiting for my letter so I can apply. I have a job waiting on me

Fwatson,

I would like to join the study group too. I plan to take the ANCC by the end of the month. You can email me and maybe we can study. [email protected]

Talk to you soon,

Jess

Hello,

I took the ANCC exam yesterday and passed it the first try. I have been reading a few post here and there; and it helps me during my review. I wanted to share my study tips that really help me a lot are by reviewing the Leik Intensive review book by itself and research a few topics that it is not covered on the review book such as on E/M, coding, research, EBP, cultural competence, and ethics. I read the Leik book 3 times and really understand each system topics. I studied intensively for two weeks from 7 am to 5 pm daily prior to taking the board. In addition, I carefully reviewed the ANCC topic guidelines that they provided as they give you areas to focus on for the test.

Helpful Topics to Focus:

- Be familiar with the Derm conditions and its treatment

- Common disorders seen in primary care care and treatment recommendations (i.e. COPD, asthma, HTN, DM,)

- Fundoscopic examination (review common condition and treatment)

- Be familiar with E/M coding

- Cultural Beliefs - Various Culture (i.e. Mexican, Asian)

- Ethics and Research (review the last chapter on Leik- understand them well)

- Pharmacology (review each drug categories; remember common adverse effects and its contraindications)

- Review the 642 Questions on the back of the text and its rationale.

I believe that concentrating on just one book will help you better than reviewing different book reviewers out there. I bought Fritzgerald and Leik; combining them both to my review was making it more difficult to understand. Both my friend and I just review the Leik Intensive review book- we both focus our time with just the Leik; she took the AANP and I took the ANCC; we both passed the exam the first try.

There are SO much information to study and there is NO way for us to learn them all. Be CONFIDENT in yourself. REST a day before the EXAM. Don't look at the book at all! Get a good night sleep before the day of your test, CLEAR your Mind, CALM your Heart, and RELAX your body. Listen to music and enjoy the day- get a massage! AND Make Sure to PRAY Before you Take the TEST!

God Bless!!!

I need help finding the ANCC yellow book!!

Has anyone taken the ANCC twice and if so how different are the exams? Please help.

Just took the ANCC FNP exam and passed. I must say quite a few of the questions were from the 1st exam I took. I must say the Leik book really helped. Please don't waste your money on doing the ANCC online exams they just not worth it.

Congrats! I am taking it soon. Any advise on remembering which antibiotic is first line to treat what disease? Did you have many questions about that? Thanks for any advise.

Congrats on passing the boards! I am planing to take FNP ANCC in a month.Did you take yours after the test was updated? I am readying Leik's book for the second time. Can you please suggest any more study guides? Here is my email [email protected] in case if you can reach to me.

Thank you in advance.
