I'm very excited as I just got my acceptance call! I was wondering if anyone else around here would be starting Oct 28th? I'd like to keep in touch to help each other out through this!

I've been a nurse for 8yrs and always knew I'd go back eventually....decided to pull the trigger a few weeks ago and apply. Now just need to get together some supplies and order my books! (going to buy a desk and make my little zen study area!)

good luck everyone!

Hello all!

I am a current FNP student at Chamberlain and I am in pharm, will start advanced assessment July 6, and I will finish June 2016. So far the content is monumental to learn to time management is necessary. I work for a world renowned and nationally ranked hospital in the Texas Medical Center and they even offer tuition reimbursement. I am not the least bit worried about finding a job with a degree from Chamberlain. I believe that once you pass boards, you can apply for a license anywhere, just like an RN.

I am currently an FNP student and I'm trying to find out info on the on-campus weekend following Assessment. I can't seem to find a clear answer as to which campus houses this, or is it on a rotation? Where did you go? When did they tell you which location?

So you will get a compliance packet during the assessment session, week 1 or 2. Immersion weekend is the end of week 7. I will be attending the one 8/21-8/23. The campus is the Addison campus at the Q center in Illinois. Which session/class are you in m_huff2002?

Thanks. Do you know if they are always there? What's the Q center? I am two sessions behind you (slated to take assessment Nov/Dec of this year). Can I ask you a question? How did you go about getting your clinical placements? I am having a hard time. I am nervous about asking total strangers, but it has come down to that.

Immersion weekend is always held on the campus in St. Charles, Illinois. I found my first preceptor by cold calling. It was actually the 5th place I called and I was blessed that he was willing to set up a new clinical contract with my school as well. I am using this MD for my first 2 practicum sessions, I then have a rotation at a pediatric urgent night clinic, and I am using my job for my capstone course. I only have to find a preceptor for my 4th practicum now.

Hi there!I am currently in my 3rd session and this is my 2nd time doubling. So far it is not bad if you have great time management skills! It's a lot of work! However, I did speak with admissions and they said they have done a curriculum re evaluation and are now requiring students to sign and submit a waiver to double courses, and then it will get approved/denied by the dean. Doubling 3 times will cut 6 months off of the degree plan. PM for more questions!!
Hi, I am just starting the FNP program at Chamberlain this week! I was really interested in doubling up on my classes but also super nervous to do so! I work full time (3 12 hr shifts) and have a busy family life. So i was wondering if you would be able to give me any feedback on doable it is? Also what classes you would pair together? Any advice would truly help! Thank you so much!

So working full time nights is perfectly doable as I did this throughout my entire pregnancy. I am in clinical now and I still work full time nights. 500 has to be taken alone, then I would do policy and theory, research and informatics, and then leadership and stats.

Hey everyone I start the FNP program on October 26th 2015. I am making a facebook group to help each other through this process!

Look for Chamberlain FNP Fall 2015

Hi Carl Caplin-

My name is Myra and I am also starting Oct 26!!! Let's keep in contact :)

Hello,

I will be applying to NP school soon, and was interested to know, from current students, how you all like your programs.

Did it take a long time to receive admission decisions from Chamberlain? Do any of you work M-F. How much did you have to adjust your work schedule? Any info provided will be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone,

I am also in CCN FNP program, started in Sept 2015, my goal is start practicums in Jan 2017. So far I like the online learning environment, but am still working on securing preceptors. I have found taking one class at a time easy to time manage with a full time job and two children, so I am doubling up for the spring semester, which I know will require more time management, but I think this is doable. Hope this helps.
