How much are you all spending on textbooks? Is $400 over the top for just one semester? Am only trying to get required ones. I don't know if it's because I haven't been to school for a while, I am finding this figure overwhelming!

Question about the international versions, are the pages/chapters just like the US, have you had any problem finding your required reading assignements in there? not worried about re-sale but have seen them MUCH cheaper and wanted to know more about it. I was afraid it would be completely different than US version so afraid to purchase!~

It is the same exact material including the chapters and page numbers. I was afraid to purchase one until a friend of mine told me she does it all the time and never had an issue. I had no problems.

Sometimes, not all the time so beware. Ive had experiences where they were identical and others where they were a few pagers off.

Short answer, $400 is not out of line for some semesters. Long answer, there are alot of ways to find books, some cheaper than others. I analyze the new vs used vs rent option and almost never buy books that aren't required unless they are cheap and/or classmates who have had the class tell me they are of value for some reason.

Amazon or other markets are often cheaper than the school sanctioned bookstore.

Sometimes you can find international editions that are cheaper than us editions (I had better luck with this in undergrad than NP school)

School student forums or ways to talk to other students in your school who have just taken the courses you are about to take is a great way to get used books cheap (beware of quality though)

Old editions can often be had for real cheap, but some professors get upset about this.

kindle/e-book prices are a bit cheaper. I have not gone this way because some professors offer open book quizzes but you can't use e-books or the computer during them. Also if you do go with an e-book realize you need to be able to reference page number, etc as many professors will have notes that say read pg x blah to pg y blah. If you can't find that exact section, you will be out of luck. I think some e-books are better at this than others.

Hi 2015.

I got all of my books for GU's Patho and Research Methods including the recommended for under $150.00. (Even the online component) I got the ISBN #'s from the school and googled it. I ended up buying them from 3 different places but they were all here with in 4 days. Amazon is pretty good plus you can get free shipping on some books. I also ended up getting 2 books from BookByte. I am with you about the renting and ebooks. I have most of my books from my undergrad plus I like to highlight and underline. :) I heard we will use a lot of the books again in the program. When do you have Patho and Research methods?

Sorry for being off topic, but message is for 2015. I tried to send you a private message, but it didn't go through.

Hello 2015,

I read one of your previous post in regards to the UOP statistics course. I really need to take a Stats course, but math is my weakness. How did you find the course?, was it difficult or time consuming. I am looking for a straight to the point math class that not to challenging. I am currently an RN. Please advise.

Thanks,
