Applying to Ball State and Southern Indiana FNP program

Hi everyone,

I'm applying to Ball State and USI FNP program for fall 2013. I would greatly appreciate any input from anyone who has attended or is currently attending either of these programs. I have heard that they may start wait listing, did anyone have trouble being admitted to these schools, would you say they are highly competitive. Would you recommend I apply to more schools? I have a 3.5 gpa for my BSN and 2 years nursing experience.

Thanks in advanced for all your replies!

I applied to USIE was accepted but for a four year part time program wouldn't have been done till 2016. So I chose to go to SJCME. There were a lot applying I was told, should have been glad to get accepted. I was but I wanted done earlier.

I go to BSU and love the program there. I applied and was wait listed for a year (my undergrad gpa was 3.2), but there are many applicants as well. The only thing is the program is part time only and you have to find your own preceptors for clinicals ( as with most online programs). After a year down I am highly pleased with my education there and highly recommend.

So how does that work if you are waitlisted? So if you are accepted, you don't have to reapply? I am confused about how the whole process works.

Didn't have to reapply. When I hadn't heard anything from them I emailed the program and was told decisions for the next semester entry were being made and found out not long after I was accepted and would start in fall, believe this was around spring time. I applied and started a year later.

The person I spoke to said they get about 200 people apply, and they only accept 30 people...Doesn't sound like very good odds to me!

I applied at University of Southern Indiana for fall 2014 and got accepted into the four year plan too. Not what I wanted so am going elsewhere. I had already made up my mind to go elsewhere so it worked out ok for me.
