AANP FNP board exam

I am taking the AANP next week and am scoring 66-69% on APEA predictor exams, and about 78% on Leik questions. I am terrified I am not going to pass because I am scoring so low. I graduated with a 3.85, and have for the most part been a good test taker. These practice tests have me doubting myself and if I am ready to take boards?! Any feedback is much appreciated.

These scores do bring some concern to the surface. Have you been able to identify where your weaknesses are? Is it in a particular area or is it getting tripped up with the questions? Carefully review the correct answer against yours...WHY is it different? One cannot memorize the examples (may or may not be on the exam) but should understand the material well enough to appropriately identify the correct answer. If you are getting tripped up...then you are reading too much into your question, not reading the question slowly enough to pick up the "twist", and/or not considering each answer in relationship to the question. I have always been a HORRIBLE test taker and found that my weakness was in getting tripped up by the question in regards to reading more into it that was actually there. English is my second language, so I also would get in trouble with double negatives, etc. I really worked hard on this and passed my exam on the first pass. Good luck!

Thanks for your advice, my statistic analysis has been all over the place. I think I am getting tripped up in what the question is really asking. I will take your advice and try to read the questions slower and take my time. Thanks!

When I went to take my exam, I asked for a private room. They asked why..."because I have to read the questions and answers out loud to myself AND I tend to be very theatrical in figuring out my answer". Well...I got a private room. When I got done they told me I was one of the most entertaining test takers they had every encountered and were happy that I had passed!

Hi Miah! Congratulations for passing your exam. Hopefully, I will be graduating from my program in August. What review materials do you think helped you the most and what would you recommend for me. I am a nervous wreck! Thank you!

I relied heavily on the Leik book and her questions in the back, this was my favorite study source. I also studied out of the Fitzgerald book during my last two semesters of NP school and then purchased the fitz Q bank offline (5 tests). Completed 2 APEA, predictor exams (HATED these, they are difficult and make you freak out and doubt yourself). And then the day before my test, I did the PSI practice test and scored 82% and actually had 2-3 of those questions on my exam.

I didn't know a private room was an option!!!! I'm absolutely doing that when I take boards!
