Quick question - this is my first post btw!
I have applied to a local ADN program, hopefully I get in next semester(fingers crossed). Anyways I know I know I don't want to stay at the RN level, I know I want to advance my career. I hear a lot about the 2015 deadline where advance practice nurses will be required to get the DNP rather than the MSN. My question is twofold. Is it an across the board decision (all states vs. state you practice in) and what will the MSN get me; any way of advance practice or just supervisory positions? Thanks for any input!

There is no "requirement" or "deadline" as of now -- this is a recommendation
by the AACN, which has no statutory or regulatory authority whatsoever. Lots of schools
are converting their MSN advanced practice programs to DNP program (and some schools aren't), but no state has yet indicated that it will start requiring a DNP for advanced practice licensure.
