Register Today!- Dec 15, '08 by BestSweetGalHi, the GRE used to be required for the for the Accelerated BSN, but it is now not required. They are going by your SAT/ACT scores, GPA. So now that the GRE is not required, getting into the program will be very competitve. I'm applying for Spring 09. Good luck
- Jan 3, '09 by Carebear28Hi everyone...I will be applying for the Spring 2010 program and I am so nervous about getting in. I have been volunteering in the ED at a hospital and taking my prereqs. I also have some experience working at a pysch hospital a few years ago. I am worried that my SAT score will not be good enough - I took it 10 years ago, I think I barley broke 1000. My GPA from college was only a 2.9, but i've been taking classes now and my GPA from the recent classes is a 3.8 - Anyone know how they come up with the overall GPA?
I also am not from SC, do they prefer in state applicants over out of state? I was trying to look for stats on previous accepted students for this program, but i can't find anything. If anyone has input for any of my questions above I would really appreciate it! Thanks! - Jan 3, '09 by Athenas83I just graduated from MUSC last year, and I had to take the GRE to get in, so I'm not sure how they're computing the SAT into everything. I do know that it was pretty much the GRE that made us competitive. So maybe you can take the SAT again if you're not happy with the score. I didn't do stellar on the GRE, and still got in.
- Jan 3, '09 by Carebear28thanks for you reply athenas...I was thinking about taking the SAT again, but I have to do more research on that part...time and money! and congrats on your graduation last year, you must be so happy!
- Jan 3, '09 by Athenas83Also, there were quite a few out of state people in my class. I am relieved, although the program flew by!! and most of us got jobs before we graduated so don't worry about that. If you have any other questions about the program or anything...just message me!
- Apr 9, '09 by pyrokayteWell, I just applied to the Accelerated BSN program February 1, 2009 and got accepted. They said they no longer require a GRE score, which is good because I have never taken it. I did have to take the SAT at the last minute, literally, and was able to take it on standby 2 days after finding out I needed it. Ahhh! Needless to say I did not have time to study and have not taken a math class since high school 10 years ago. I was able to score a 28, though, which was apparently good enough to get me accepted along with my 4.0 on prerequisites. I start the program this Fall 2009. I have always heard that they weigh heavily on GPA.

does that mean i stand no chance? - Aug 12, '09 by Carebear28Oh, no! ...I wasn't implying that at all! I am in no position to judge, just in the same boat as you and suggesting what I tell myself - stop thinking about it and just do it
