    I'm glad! I had friends who had to retake everything. I personally barely squeaked by on a couple

    I believe there were two orientations, but honestly it was (feels like) a long time ago. There was one when you're accepted, and there's one right before you start your clinicals. I remember the first one being fairly informal, but you can always ask lots of questions.

    I might call the nursing dept and ask to meet with an adviser too, to help deal with transferring credits, finding out what your track would look like, etc.

    If you have a BA and most of your sciences done, the Merit is definitely worth looking into. Like I said, it pushed my start date up a year. They talk about that on the link I sent

    I know this thread is almost 4 years old, but thought I'd reply and represent the school!

    Just graduated from the RN program this may! Any other alum or current students that still come on these boards?

    hey, i just got accepted... am attending the 1st orientation in two weeks! i was wondering if any of you all know how competitive the merit program is? i've got a good amount of points, but no where near all of them.

    also, @none the wiser why would you suggest and adjunct for the 2nd semester? just curious because it seems that every time i had an adjunct prof here at tech that they didn't seem to care as much or something.

    i got in on merit. i had a biology degree and nearly all the non-clinical courses, so i was fairly sure i was getting in. i think it's just a matter of waiting tbh...i don't think many people know/apply for merit though, fwiw.

    i would actually say adjuncts are nearly always great for the med-surg clinical courses lol. most of them still work out in the field, so they're up on what's current best practice.

    the nursing program is very different from the rest of mtc.

    I just finished the dreaded 3rd semester. It was hard but it wasn't a catastrophe. lol

    I'll put together a list of the instructors that I have heard about, for those who are going through.

    101: Horne is the best. Murray is very difficult, as is Fournier. Mays is pretty good too, I've heard. She arguably goes to the best location, and in 101 location is everything.

    165: I would recommend getting an adjunct. Seriously, go for the TBA's. I liked Ms Hudson a lot in lecture, but I'm not sure how her clinical is.

    263: This class is so much fun. A nice break from 265. OB is slightly easier than Peds, but don't stress about this class too much. All the instructors are great.

    265: Ms Shirk is the best of the full instructors. The adjuncts were not bad.

    A note about 265/263 semester: There are pros and cons to having 265 clinical first. Pros: You get the hard stuff out of the way before you're burned out. Cons: If you fail, you don't know until AFTER you've done all the clinicals haha.

    The rest of the semesters, I don't really know yet. If anyone else can fill in the blanks for the last two semesters, that'd rock.

    210: Adjunct, adjunct, adjunct! Ms Carson is also fabulous

    162: Either one is all right, but Ms Glenn is easier. Easy peasy class.

    This semester will help you remember you're not the total idiot 265/263 made you think you were.

    I was recently accepted into the Pre-nursing program. I attend the first orientation later this month (October). I have a degree in education and applied for Merit admission. Does anyone know how hard it is to get in?
