Does anyone know if this is a good program? I'm thinking about applying for it for Fall '08, but I don't know anyone who has gone to the school. I would love to know anything from quality of faculty to design of the program to how difficult it is to get accepted. Do most people who start the program graduate? Does anyone work during the program? Really anything would be very appreciated!

I am an applicant for spring start. Does anyone know what the schedule is like first semester??? I am a stay at home dad right now while I work on prereqs and we are trying to figure out daycare for when(yeah I wish I were that confidant) IF I get in.

I'm currently a first semester student. We have lectures Monday 7:30-1 and Tuesday 9-4. (Lectures for different classes and they do give you lunch break.) Clinical is either Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday 7-1 and then you have skills lab and health assessment lab on one of your non clinical days 8:00-3:00. (I have clinical Wednesday, Thursday off, and labs Friday). There are a couple of people in our class with children (even some single parents!) and they're managing fairly well. I think as long as you're good with your time management you'll be fine.

As far as acceptance notification, I got a big ol' envelope in the mail. Y'all should be probably be hearing from them soon, I imagine.

Good luck, guys! I hope I'll see you around next semester! :D

I am also waiting to hear back about Spring 2010. Have my fingers crossed!

Sheepwithagun,

Thanks for the response. My fingers hurt from staying crossed?

I emailed admissions today. She said letters should be sent out this week!!!!

hey guys! got a letter in the mail TODAY!!!! I live in Charleston, so I'm sure I was one of the first to receive a letter....short distance for the mail to go I guess! I'm on the alternate list, so I'm happy with that. At least I know something! Good luck everyone!

oh wow now i am super nervous! what was your cumulative gpa bama if you don't mind me asking?

i just ran to the mailbox when i saw your message, but i don't have a letter yet..hopefully tomorrow.

....this is going to kill me! haha

Twinkle, my cumulative gpa was a 3.3....not stellar, but not bad either. Now it's just more waiting around for me! The lady I spoke with in student services said that they've even offered admission to alternates on the actual day of orientation! crazy!

Man, that stinks. I probably didn't get in then. My overall gpa was 3.2 and my prereq was a 3.5 I believe. I think I got 1130 on the SAT or maybe that was a 1030..I can't remember now! So, if you didn't get in there's no way I did... :'( tear.

I also live in Charleston and got a letter today. I'd imagine everyone will have theirs today or tomorrow. I am also an alternate. Don't really know what that means. Pretty bummed to be honest.

Wow. I was just checking my email and I received an email stating I was accepted!!!! I am so thankful and so excited! This is the best news I've ever had, hands down.

Keep you heads up guys - I will be thinking positive thoughts for all of you!!!!

congrats!

i didn't get in. when i called they said that everything was really go except the essay..i didn't get all 10 points on that... they said i should work on it and reapply for fall start. do you have any suggestions for the essay? it was hard to put my thoughts into 100 words... i really need some help! i am so disappointed. i don't know what to do.

Listen,

Don't get down on yourself. Be glad it was just your essay and not your GPA. The essay is the easiest to improve (and you don't have to spend more money on re-taking classes).

I had spent about a month working on my essay. 100 words is not easy to express yourself. I think that I had a hard time in the beginning because I wanted to say so much. I read and re-read the question constantly because at the end of the day, even if you want to include personal stuff in the essay, you MUST answer the question directly.

I think it's great that they said everything else was fine! You can improve your essay - I know you can. Ask for help from a professor, friend, etc. A simple switch of a word can make a big difference. If you need help, I am here too!
