Congrats to all of you that have gotten in! I am expecting to have to apply twice because when I apply this december I will not have many volunteer hours (60-65 hours) and I will still have one science course to take. Next July I want to apply a second time (if I do not get in the first time) and I should have 200+ volunteer hours between hospital, hospice, and blood drives and hopefully more than 300 hours medical working experience once I get my CNA. My GPA hopefully will be about a 3.5-3.7...does anybody believe this sounds like a winning application? lol I am super nervous to even apply the first time but I want to just to find out where I can improve most!

They put so much emphasis on volunteer or medical work that it sounds like you may only need to apply once! Good luck to you.. And definitely if you don't get in the first time, the admissions specialists are GREAT at steering you to where you can improve.

Randib07- I would recommend you have Mardi Long do an unofficial evaluation of your transcript and include a few more details about your past experiences. I did this last summer when I was starting to gear up for this whole process, and she helped to push me in the right direction with regard to prereq classes, my overall GPA and how it stacks up, and what I was missing. She was very helpful and told me that it would be a good idea to start volunteering ASAP! It paid off If I hadn't spoken with her I would be getting that advice now and reapplying for the fall semester. Good luck!!

Hey ml52789, for some reason I still can't PM you but I had a question about applying for in-state status as a military spouse. If you could PM me about how you did that I would really appreciate it! I wasn't accepted for this cycle but was told my out of state status is what really hurt me, and I will be getting married in December and my fiance is active duty in SC. I'd appreciate any tips you have for me!

I'm looking to apply in January for Fall 2014 admission. My overall GPA is a 3.6, with A's in almost all prereqs. I'll still have a few prereqs in progress when I apply. I only have about 30 volunteer as a medical assistance in the ER, but hopefully I can gain some more volunteer hours because it seems like they place a lot of emphasis on that. I'm only a sophomore in undergrad right now, so I will not have any work experience. I have good letters of recommendation from a few people working at MUSC right now, one of which is on the Board of Directors. I'm mostly worried about my little volunteer experience. Will only about 40 hours be enough? I'm also not sure if my GPA will be too low.

I just wanted to congratulate everyone on their acceptance! I'm on the alternate list and was told that alternates have a good chance of getting accepted. Is anyone else in the same boat? I hope I get a call!
