Greenville, Columbia, or Charleston?

Hello all! I am a pre-nursing student in Charlotte but have not been able to get into a nursing program here - been trying for about 2 years now. I applied to Trident Tech on a whim and got accepted into the Spring 2011 class but am also debating about applying to schools in Columbia and Greenville. I haven't started looking into ADN programs there yet but am curious as to which city may have better schools (out of the 3) and which area may have more opportunity for part-time employment while in school (I'm currently a phlebotomist).

Greenville. If you want a BSN program your choices are Lander University, Clemson University (it an hour away from Greenville, Bob Jones University, and USC Upstate. If you want to do ADN programs you have Greenville Technical college and Spartanburg Community College. In Columbia you basically only have USC (a BSN program) which I hear bad things about their program I wouldnt recommend it, or Midlands Tech which has an excellent program but a loooong wait list. Then in Charleston BSN programs are Charleston Southern University and of course Trident Tech for ADN. So I would say go to Greenville.

There's also a new BSN program at South University in Columbia (I just got accepted for fall!!) Good school. Private so it's a bit more expensive. No waiting lists. The Dean of our nursing program sits on the state BON.

The first two years at South University campus in Columbia are not in Nursing but in "Health Sciences" I guess that's comparable to other schools that have a tier system but that just bothers me a bit.

Once you have completed all pre-req's you APPLY for the nursing program.

If you have already completed them then you can apply for the next nursing class.

No different than being pre-nursing anywhere else and you still have to

apply for a seat. No pre-req's are taken concurrently so all you take is

nursing. Don't see why that would be unsettling.

The South University-Columbia campus is great. I am currently enrolled there for the nursing program just started April 5. Great school. It is expensive but it is worth it because you will be graduating with your BSN.

O awesome...how are you liking it so far? I have yet to meet someone on here that was actually on campus at columbia

It's intense lol! It's a lot of information to absorb.

2nd qtr. puts your organization and prioritizing to

the test (personally speaking). At least it did for

our class. So far this qtr. things are ok....we'll see

after this week...we have our first tests this week.

I also have my first exams this week...two tomorrow and one on Thursday...i have a question..did a lot of people fail out the first quarter? cuz to me the first quarter is the easiest..And things are going well...the teachers are really nice and willing to help so I bug them all the time lol...good luck on your exams tomorrow-bright and early
