Poll: On Health Care, Public Trusts Insurance Companies More Than Republicans

Poll: On Health Care, Public Trusts Insurance Companies More Than GOP Leaders

Wow. With the health care debate gearing up, some new numbers from Gallup suggest that the public doesn’t exactly have a tremendous amount of confidence in Republican leaders on the issue.

Only 34% are confident that GOP leaders Congress will make the right decisions about health care reform — less than the insurance companies (35%) or the pharmaceutical companies (40%). By contrast, more have confidence in Dem leaders (42%), and even more trust Obama (58%).

In fairness, the gap between GOP leaders and insurance companies is within the margin of error. But still, being statistically tied with the insurance companies is pretty bad, and suggests that GOPers aren’t exactly heading into this fight with the wind at their backs.

This really isn't surprising. I think Bush really hurt the GOP and its image. Furthermore, the GOP haven't exactly been trail-blazers on the issue of health care reform.

All the more reason for the Dems to stop trying to appease the Republican health insurance industry puppets (to be fair, some of the Dems aren't much better) when it comes to reform. They should listen more to Howard Dean, who has pointed out that the public plan option is more important than bipartisanship. Especially since the Republicans (and a few Dems) are only interested in being obstructionists.

Blue, I heard a funny joke the other day about Obama. Bill Maher said that he should be more like Bush, in regards to doing what he wants to do, regardless. Maher went on to explain that Obama was being too bipartisan and should simply come out and say, "I'm the decider".

I've heard funny jokes about Obama, too.

Neither Obama nor Bush can legally do much of anything of consequence without congressional approval, although a significant amount of control is now being handed off to Obama's minions, aka czars.

Obama is the joke. He's so incompetent he has to get Joe Biden as VP to make him look somewhat competent.

I disagree crna2007.
the joke's on us -private insurers are laughing all the way to the bank as republican talking heads do their bidding - bamboozling and brainwashing Joe/Joan Public into believing their fearmongering propoganda, while the insurance companies benefit from corporate welfare and "we the people's" physical and financial health trickles away.
