Ingelein,(sp?),

I never thought of that. But I do have some confidence in our FDA as I worked in research phase III's and IV's and know how "picky they are" and should be. I was so relieved to hear the FDA turned down OTC statin drugs. My first thought was OMG sodium....................

Can you imagine what the cost of those OTC statins could have been.

The US is very picky. Not to mention they have made some serious bad decisions.

It would be interesting to kow more about Chinese pharmeceutical companies. I have worked with Sweden and Italy companies in the past.

I just think about that guy China executed for the fake drugs they were producing, scary.OTC Statins? Now that is scary too, I am FIGHTING to get my cholesterol level down under 200, so I dont have to go that route. The side effects can be horrid-rhabdomyolisis.I think we should be able to get cheaper drugs from Canada.

You hit the nail on the head.Rabdiomyolisis, I knew what I meant and what happens physiologically but dang couldn't get the right word out. I never heard about the Chinese execution. Hmmmmm, I guess not only toys.

Our govenor was very interested in getting pharmaceuticals cheaper working with Canada, and then I lost track of that situation. Viking? any thoughts?

Underinsured in Wisconsin-Growing Problem

http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=697310

"1.2 Million:Number of people in Wisconsin under age 65 who live in families that spend more than 10% of thier pretax income on health insurance and health care in 2008."

"To control costs employers are opting for health plans with higher deductibles, co-pays and out-of-pocket maximums. The result is that the total cost of health care takes up a much larger chumk of people's income"

"A lot of people expect that insurance will protect them from high costs, but that is not always the case."

Mn has a state run website that enables people to buy prescription meds from canada. Overall it seems to work well. I think reimportation should be legal. It is one of the few ways that competition can be forced upon PHRMA.
