Food and shelter can be obtained by an individual by their own means. One cannot "make their own health care", it just go an buy it in a store. It doesn't work that way.
Health care used to be affordable, and individuals could obtain it themselves. Then the insurance companies started to exlude people with

When insurance companies have to level the playing field, and compete with a Public Option, they will have to lower the cost and take everyone, without it being unaffordable. JMHO and my NY $0.02.
