There may be a specific reason why the physician is writing for the name-brand medication in this particular instance -- not
all generics work well for
all people, and sometimes there is a legitimate reason to go with the proprietary form of the med.
However, yes, there is also a lot of the "well, the government's paying for it so the price doesn't matter" mentality out there, and there's nothing wrong with asking about less expensive options. If everyone were mindful of this, we'd all be better off.
