4 month old baby denied insurance coverage for being obese

just a quick recap for those that dont want to read the article... a 4 month old weighs in at 17#'s and his parents insurance company denies him coverage because of him being obese!! He was almost 9#'s when he was born and now he is considered obese. wow, I think this is ridiculous... just wanted to share and see what everyone else thought. I do think its terrible when children are obese and I normally blame the parents BUT... a 4 month old who is breastfed???? I mean seriously...

What do yall think??

This spells out a sad, sad commentary about insurance companies in America. "Sad" is really not a strong enough word to describe the people who deny health coverage based on silly, trumped up reasons.

Perhaps the American public needs to weigh these bean-counters at the insurance companies and deny them their paychecks if we don't like the result...

I'll say it again: we are currently caught in a sad state of affairs when an insurance company will mess over an innocent being.

I have a feeling after all of this media attention this baby is going to get insurance.

Or go on Weight Watchers...wonder how he would exercise...bet he's not really good at following directions OR running/walking.

Poor thing only 4 months old and the whole world is against him =(

Ignorance at it's finest. He's 4 month old for crying old loud. He was 9 pounds at birth. What do they expect? 99th percentile in height and 50th percentile in weight? How stupid. Give me a break.

The insurance co has already backed down, stating it was a clerical error. The media pressure was probably helpful in expediting this change.

God help the kid if he does come down with DM or have asthma -- it'll all be a "preexisting condition" and they won't pay a dime.

Shakespeare said, "First, kill all the lawyers." But that was only because they didn't have insurance companies back then....

or HTN, or heart disease, or arthritis...!
