  4. The Irony of Nursing
I don't think people here (ie experienced nurses) are telling you you don't have the ability to make it happen, I think we just know from experience that what students say they want to specialize in...

Not sure if this has been discussed. Copied and pasted from USA Today: [QUOTE] Reports: Corinthian Colleges throws in the towel For-profit Corinthian Colleges, a national college...

  6. LPN making 70,000 a year
I work in a medium-sized city in Michigan. I'm going to guess you live in the south? Or perhaps the rural great plains? From what I gather, those are the lowest paying regions on average for...

  7. LPN making 70,000 a year
I could make 70k a year if I chose to pick up OT. I choose not to. Where I live, a new LPN can expect to make $50-60k a year. And I don't live in a very high-pay, high-cost-of-living part of the...

  8. Still don't get the BSN ADN thing...
I know this is sounding like a broken record, but correlation between two pieces of data does not always equal causation. There are many variables to consider. Hospitals with a higher percentaage...

  9. Poor RN professional conduct
Thankfully the definition of what it means to be professional in the workplace has evolved in the past 15 years. Being a severe, uptight, martyr is no longer a requirement. Remeber, past examples...

  13. Strike nursing
Yes, well, fire fighters and police officers also have powerful nationwide unions to protect their interests. The real question is why doesn't nursing have anything comperable?

  15. Strike nursing
Wow, looking back at this old post of mine is a tad depressing. The union aides were, indeed, laid off a while back and replaced with agency $9.00/hr contract employees. I think this is the...

  17. Health Care and Contraception: Did the Supreme Court Get It Right?
I could only imagine that asking about what forms of contraceptives are covered during the pre-hire process would hurt a woman's chances. Especially with employers who lean toward the prudish side.

  18. Health Care and Contraception: Did the Supreme Court Get It Right?
Relying on observable, verifiable, peer-reviewed research is a dirty little habit of the those educated in nursing/medicine/science.

  19. SO MUCH SWEAT!
My decidedly non-medical advice is to always wear an under-shirt so your scrubs don't have sweat stains on your back/shoulders by the end of the shift.

  21. Health Care and Contraception: Did the Supreme Court Get It Right?
Ok, that's a fair point. If the claims that Hobby Lobby "invests" in these companies are based on the 401(k) plan it offers employees.... Then that's unfair and a stretch.

  22. Health Care and Contraception: Did the Supreme Court Get It Right?

  24. Does your hospital or facility badge include your credentials?
Whenever a facility issues badges sans credentials, I'm always suspicious that the motivation is for families/patients to assume everyone with scrubs is a RN.

So what do nurses do in this scenario? Sit in the room until the bag finishes transfusing? Or is there some sort of apparatus with a lock they can secure it in?
