I love my M-F job. No weekends, nights, or holidays! Please and thank you. Especially now that I have a little one. But, I don't work in acute care so I think that makes a difference. I wouldn't...

I let acute care a year ago to work public health. No regrets but I knew that I never wanted to work acute care. If you feel the same get out while you can. If you really really really want to go...

  3. Maternity entitlements- Break in service
The first question is where do you live? My advice on US maternity benefits doesn't sound like it would help you much. If people know where you live they can give you a better idea of maternity info!

  5. School Nurse Vs. Hospital Nurse?
Where I live you make significantly less as a school nurse than a hospital nurse and you must be a BSN. However, it's one of those do what you love positions.

Public health nursing. Mon to Fri. 8 to 4:30. Low stress to me at least. Lower pay but worth it so feel "normal" to me.

  7. What other types of jobs options can I explore besides floor nursing?
I don't think the OP is making a generalization about floor nursing. She said it wasn't for her not that it was a horrible job. And if she doesn't like floor nursing and doesn't want to be a floor...

  9. What other types of jobs options can I explore besides floor nursing?
I started in med/surge because it was the only job I could get even though I knew I didn't want to work there. 11 months later I was able to get a job in public health. I've been here about 10 months...

  10. PRN pay vs. full time pay?
PRN was significantly better than full time pay for me. PRN is a straight pay for everyone so as a nurse with a year experience is was a tremendous bump. Too bad I hated the job!

  12. Applying for jobs....wait after NCLEX or apply before?
I waited but it was a bad decision. It's a good idea to start early. Some places won't hire you until you've passed your boards but you can just apply again after you have.

  15. i HATE my job. Does anyone else feel the same?
I work in a community health clinic that focuses on TB. I don't love what I do but I'm much happier than when I was working med-surge full time. It's lower stress, better hours, and the patients are...
