  1. Calling patients and/or co-workers "honey" or "hon"
I just find those phrases incredibly condescending. When I don't remember a name I use "ma'am" or "sir" until I figure out what the name is. I work in LTC and one of our rehab Pts was a former...

Today I learned to never google a term found on AN in a public place. Thank you, Google, for bringing up pictures as well as the definition. Thank you, random person sitting next to me for...

  3. The *EXPERT* Beginner
This post is interesting to me, as a soon-to-be new grad (May!). I am, generally speaking, a fairly cocky little bugger. I am confident. I am not obnoxious about it, but I have confidence in myself...

  4. Employment verification with private duty nursing job?
Have you called the school to find out if that would be an acceptable job? They will be able to give you an exact answer and, like yourself, all we can do is guess.

  6. Help!!!Too slow with med pass
What shift are you on? I work as a med aide at an ALF and tried to start out on day shift. Way too many meds/residents! Could not get it done on time. Went to evening shift - less meds, more time to...

  7. Why can't I do everything a RN does as a LPN? We should be equal.
I snorted water out of my nose when I read that comment from OP. I thought I was the only one who noticed.

  8. Grad party ideas
The only slightly clever thing I've dreamed up is serving the drinks (+1 if it's a yellow or reddish/pink drink) not in pitchers but in cath bags.

  12. I am about to cry. Nursing school is ruining my life.
Have you checked LTC? Many nursing homes would be more than willing to give you a Fri-Sun schedule. They tend to be much more flexible than hospitals.

  13. Praying in the work place
One of the large hospitals where I am (Midwest) is a catholic hospital. They pray before every shift and meetings. I'm not catholic but if I got hired there I would respectfully bow my head and have...

  14. CNA night shift??
I've worked all three shifts and nights are by far the easiest. The busiest night (and it does get busy) is not comparable to the busiest day. I won't do nights during school bc I don't function...

  15. Buy or Rent nursing texts?
Our school has pretty decent book buy-back rates, so I buy and return them. But the first college I went to had terrible buy-back rates; I always rented those ones.

  18. How Long does it take you?
